He kind of got himself typecast, then he had addiction problems and then he got older, and aged out of the roles he was typecast in.
It's actually unfortunate, as I always thought he was pretty talented.

A Seanissance like Viced said would be perfect. He’s definitely the most talented out of the American Pie bunch, and he gave damn good performances in The Rundown and Goon. One of which was entertaining as fuck and the other which showed that he can add more layers to a character than the script gives it.

I used to love him when I was a kid because of "Dude, Where's My Car" and "Evolution". Always enjoyed him in movies so I hope he comes back with a vengeance one day.

Also, as someone who really enjoys creative cursing, Sean William Scott will always be beloved of me for Steve Stifler, who is a cinematic masterwork in creative cursing, and probably the great lovable jock of the last 20 years in film.
