Warrior (2011) -- Dumb fun that hits the cliches so earnestly that I didn't care how derivative it was. 7/10
The Enforcer (1976) -- I've never been a big Dirty Harry fan, but this movie is offensive on more levels than I can count (and they're both really simple levels too). The biggest offense is to my intelligence. This has a plot and characters that would look idiotic in a 1970s sitcom (the 1980s Dirty Harry parody Sledge Hammer had smarter characters!), and then it shoehorns in a "woman" who is reduced to running around in heels looking like a moron, reinforcing Harry's misogynistic opinion of her... until she redeems herself by being more of "a man." Ugh, crap like this is when I can actually understand the politically correct losers. 3/10
Melancholia (2011) rewatch -- why does everyone speak in monotones or whispers. why should i care about how depression "feels" if i don't see the person underneath it. what the hell was that whole second half of the movie and why did the characters do a complete 180. good god, this monotone is getting so fucking annoying. 3/10
Fair Game (2010) -- It's a measured look at what happened with the Wilsons and the White House, and it works best as an expose that doesn't feel like something off of a cable news channel. Unfortunately, the Wilsons as characters are heavily overshadowed by the plot around them. So much explaining must happen so that the audience can keep on track that the human cost of the White House's actions (including the war itself) is ultimately sidelined. 6/10

Oh, I missed one.
The Crown (Season 1) -- Easy to forget it happened, tbh. I actually liked every episode. I just don't think it comes together into a compelling narrative. There isn't one moment that I emotionally connected with anyone: the show kept my brain working, but not my heart. I can kind of understand why everything that happens in the show is IMPORTANT FOR BRITAIN and why the queen must act accordingly... I just never understood why the queen herself is such a dull person. Or her consort. Or the prime minister. Their small personal struggles over tiny things (will Phillip be allowed to fly? FIND OUT NEXT EPISODE!) never really worked all that well. However, I did enjoy it as a lush costume drama on an individual episode basis. On that short, one hour front, the episodes didn't overstay their welcome. 6/10

Cursed (2005) 4/10 Damn I thought I’d at least enjoy this, but it’s mostly really bad, soap opera bad. All the studio meddling shows. Jesse Eisenberg ain't bad tho, he has some funny line readings. Apparently there’s still Wes’ original version…
The Honeymoon Killers (1970) 7/10 Tonally mixy, the first half seems to want to be a comedy. But the second half is very chilling, and very good. Scorsese theoretically directed 15% of this film—I don't think it's known which scenes—he was fired after one week. It mostly plays like a snug mix between John Waters and Cassavetes and surprisingly enough was shot in late '68.
All Through the Night (1941) 6/10 Good cast! Not nearly as amazing as the premise. At any time Bogart could’ve dropped a line about cheesecake and I would’ve been on the floor laughing, but alas he never did. Overlong though the action-comedy structure seemed to be followed quite closely for decades to come…
Bogus (1996) 6/10 Haley Joel Osment is such a strong kid actor and Depardieu (why I watched this) is so goofy and wonderful here. But this loses cogency in the third act, especially with the thin Whoopi character reversal, mawk, and sfx.
Death Wish (1974) 7/10 Gets better as it goes on. Badass, morally thrashy, with a smart subtle political twist.
The Brave One (2007) 5/10 Takes a good idea (feminist re-up of Death Wish) and dully straddles it to cable tv esque hoke.
Million Dollar Baby (2004) 7/10 or more It’s all very good until the exciting momentum halts for the last 40-minutes that are ok but dreary, except we do get a few strongly acted Clint scenes.

Haha, my stupid ass brain. I still thought I was in the thread about movies being titled for someone who isn't the main character and I was baffled that someone though Batman wasn't the main character in his own movie. Will delete my post.
