People just need to accept that James Gray will probably never be an Oscar contender. Not because of his films' quality, but outside influences.
Still, I'd love it if this beat Aladdin at the B.O. Won't happen, but how dope would that be?

I think they're just letting Disney do whatever they wanna do with it. Maybe it'll get pushed back again to October for next year's award season.

How does James Gray keep getting money to make movies? Neither of his last two were small, and they both went down like the Titanic, and still he endures!

Called it. I never expected this to get an awards push, not for this season anyways.

Take that everyone who has maintained for over a year this would be a serious contender! Not that I don't want this to be awesome, I do (and I'm not fan of Gray's), but this was never going to be an Oscar threat. And it doesn't have too!

A May release is much better than a January one since it's not qualifying for this year's Oscar.

Thank christ someone keeps bankrolling Gray's stuff. One of the best directors currently working imo. I wonder if his work will ever find a larger audience or garner awards shit.

I'm sure it will eventually. The Immigrant would've done so already if Harvey hadn't gotten so butthurt after Gray refused to capitulate to his scissorhands tendencies that he buried the movie.

Fuckin' douchebag Harvey trying to change the literal 11/10 ending of that movie. What a moronic boob.

Maybe they'll try to bring to Cannes, who knows.

Oh fuck no, I thought it was gonna be Thomas Newman and I was so excited. I hope Richter does a great job too but damn, I'm a tad disappointed.

I'll always love Richter for his music on The Leftovers so no complaints from me.

The budget is only $50 million and it has Brad Pitt it shouldn’t bomb. Big emphasis on should since the studio seems hellbent on it flopping...

Test screenings word is that the movie is extremely ambitious, that Brad Pitt is at his career best and it's poised to be an awards player. They're still working massively on special effects, but this seems to be the real deal.

James Gray is great and all, and I LOVE Ruth Negga, but I wish Brad Pitt wasn't in it.

I didn’t know this, but apparently Pitt’s character is on the spectrum, and then I was no longer excited for it. I wonder how many stereotypes they’ll be playing into?
