What a fucking nutcase ! That's the kind of letter that Hannibal Lecter would have written . Horrible handwriting. I don't give a rat's ass about what people are saying . Jack The Ripper was neither a butcher or a "red skin" . He was a wealthy and highly eductaed man. He was most likely a surgeon. And the victims weren't chosen randomly either . They must have witnessed / known something they shoudln't have . I've read about a year ago that a new evidence has emerged suggesting the Ripper was either a member or an acquaintance of the Royal Family.

Put me in the camp of "nah".
Granted, the times were much different, but if we are to believe that Ripper had knowledge of anatomy/surgery, I'd think that he'd know how to fucking spell kidney. I think it's a hoax.
Also fun fact, the last time I watched Zodiac I spent like 6 hours on wikipedia reading about serial killers. It made for a very weird night.

I highly doubt the letter was from the real killer either . Like I said the real murderer was an highly educated man. Unless of course , the real killer wrote that letter and made those spelling mistakes on purpose to mess with people's mind .

I'm convinced the letters were written by the press in order to stir up media excitement about the case. Case secrecy wasn't paramount back then, and the detail about a kidney/ear might've easily been leaked.
I also don't know if I believe Liz Stride was actually a victim of the Ripper. I think she might've been in the wrong place at the wrong time for another killer of prostitutes.
I also don't believe in the Royal conspiracy.

IF it was the true killer, I feel like they intentionally made themselves come off as uneducated.

Do y'all remember From Hell, the 2001 film spun from this very letter, with Johnny Depp and Heather Graham? I don't think it was written by the real killer. That may be the doing of the press. They had to come with Jack the Ripper title to sell papers just like The Black Dahlia murder. It's a shame we'll never find who that person is. As for the film it is pretty underrated if you ask me. Depp is really good in here. The visuals, score and sets were great too.

Do y'all remember From Hell, the 2001 film spun from this very letter, with Johnny Depp and Heather Graham? Not a bad film by any means, but there is a 1988 TV mini-series with Michael Caine in the lead, which deals in more or less the same story-line, and it is vastly superior. If y'all haven't seen it, then check it out.

Makes me wonder whether the theory is true even though it sounds bonkers.

Historians really seem to believe that George Chapman, né Seweryn Antonowicz Kłosowski, was the Ripper... He definitely seems like the most plausible candidate. And at all the people who want to force the idea that Walter Sickert was the killer. This documentary is truly panoramic - the best I've seen on the subject:

I don't have a theory except I always thought it would be cool (for lack of a better word) if it was Charles Cross - ie the most mundane, boring suspect was actually the murderer not the exotic theories the case and its history lends itself to. It's certainly in a way the most cinematic ending as in David Mamet's brilliant ending to Homicide That's the movie to make there for me.... It's a fascinating thing that as we move away in time from gruesome murders there becomes a cultish fascination with them - whereas in our own period the details would be more...........unpleasantly fresh.

Oh honey, if you look closely at the signature at the bottom of the letter, what looks like an M could be a N and the L could be a K.... it looks like it says... Nicole Kidman

He alluded to some options but was quite open-minded (and said he was a close friend with someone working on the open case so he didn't want to give too much away, heh). He was leaning more towards Carl Feigenbaum which is super intriguing.
