Okay, so nails on a chalk board doesn't bother me at all (I kinda like it), but I thought this thread might be a good one. What kinda noises really get you irked or even angry? They can be reasonable complaints, or totally unreasonable, who cares...
One thing that bugs me, which I only recently noticed and it kind of inspired this thread, is the noise of a pencil rolling on a desk or table. It's a minor trigger, but I will immediately slam my hand down on it and stop it all the same.
I think this is pretty common, but someone making sloppy mouth sounds while they are eating, really gets me pissed. It's gross, it sounds horrible and it really is just appalling manners.
Obnoxiously loud sneezes. Yes I know loud or high pitched sneezes can't he helped, but it definitely makes me wince with minor irritation.
Dog barking infuriates me. There are a lot of dogs around where I live, seems like even second home has one. When one dog starts, it's somewhat bothersome, but then one sets the next one off, then another one gets going. You very quickly have a chorus of little shits barking. If they could even harmonise or something, it might be more tolerable.
Also, the sound of the words Brexit, Trump or Donald Trump being spoken over the last couple of years triggers a powerful sense or annoyance in me. If I'm watching the news and any of those words is mentioned, I now turn it off. So as you can imagine I pretty much barely watch the news anymore. If a conversation it going on about those things and I'm within earshot, I do my best to get out of earshot or switch my brain off. Any of those words spoken aloud are probably the worst sounds possible for me right now.

The sound of my hand over coarse wood is enough to make me cringe. I don't know how or why I have it (same with my utter fear of molten metals/lava... like I'm never gonna really ever encounter those) but it's there. It just puts shivers down my spine. I hate it.

Yep, first thing that came to mind.

People who slide their teeth on the fork when they eat. It not only annoys me to no end, but it also actually kind of hurts my teeth. Like the noise itself that they're making hurts my teeth... doesn't make sense, I know, but arghhhh!!

I’ve got quite an aversion for Trance-like sounds. They don’t sooth me, they just irritate me. That may be part of why I don’t care for certain electronica or synth scores.
Also styrofoam, knife sharpening, and scooting sneakers.

Oh so many: * Loud chewers - people letting everyone know they're chewing gum ..... * Overdone auto-tune in Pop music - a lot of things in music - fake / canned drums.......Jason Derulo ........saying Jason Derulo.........Lucy Dacus......Julien Baker..... * Many political phrases - sometimes on the Right like calling everybody a socialist to the point where it loses its full zinger effect........often on the Left arbitrarily changing language or the making up of new terms - which is basically castrating the English language.......like words that meant something always - now don't mean that because you know......."progress" or something (GTFO)..........or for example....... "birthing persons" yeah, ok * People saying the word "No" to me when I want something...... * Jackhammers on constructions sites - like if you're stuck in traffic and they are doing road construction near you ......it's maddening ......extended hammering ........chalk on a chalkboard actually.....

Also this might be the most upper class thing you've ever said I live in North Carolina, which is rapidly suburbanizing, so construction noise everywhere, everyday. Is it not normal to dislike construction noise?

Is it not normal to dislike construction noise? That's music to my ears -- Slow walkers on the sidewalk. Those individuals who think I'd like to listen to their tik toks, music, whatever because they haven't discovered headphones People who know are being observed and still do not pick up their dog's shit Mouth sounds but only while eating, in a different context I might dig it Having two conversations at once, one in person, the other on the phone. The obsession to label everything's in front of usAnd generaly the way people always try to find a way to politicize random things
