It's my favorite genre as a whole - mystery and this sub-genre in particular. I'm cheating a little because some of the ones below aren't detectives exactly but the lead character becomes a defacto detective......although I'm leaving out The Vanishing (Spoorloos) which I think is stretching it to call that a detective movie - it works differently.
Chinatown The Conversation Blow Out Homicide (1991) Night Moves
Vertigo Memento Mulholland Drive Memories of Murder Monsieur Hire

Ten I really like, not necessarily my 10 favorite. Also, not all feature a proper detective, but all with detective-ish figures trying to solve a mystery.
1. Mulholland Drive (David Lynch) 2. Blade Runner (Ridley Scott) 3. The Silence of The Lambs (Jonathan Demme) 4. Zodiac (David Fincher) 5. Vertigo (Alfred Hitchcock) 6. Chinatown (Roman Polanski) 7. Manhattan Murder Mystery (Woody Allen) 8. The Conversation (Francis Ford Coppola) 9. Winter’s Bone (Debra Granik) 10. The Nice Guys (Shane Black)

One of my favorite genres. I'm sure I'm forgetting some movies, but something like:
Heat L.A. Confidential The Big Sleep Dirty Harry The Maltese Falcon Chinatown Murder on the Orient Express Blade Runner 2049 Un Flic Stray Dog
But I could easily list ten more that I love.

Since we're talking "detective films" and not "noir films" I won't include Mulholland Drive, since Robert Forster's detective only has one (great) scene.
The Big Sleep Blade Runner Blade Runner: 2049 Blood Simple Double Indemnity L.A. Confidential Laura M The Silence of the Lambs Vertigo
