Is this film available at all in the US? I'm very curious to see it, if only for the talent involved.

I watched it on Netflix about a year ago... I'm assuming it's not there anymore otherwise you probably wouldn't be asking.

Watched for acting talent and I liked Mommy. That being said, I hate every second of this movie

I remember it was on YouTube a while back, but I assume it must've been taken down since then.
It's... pretty bad. Not because it's an over-the-top embarrassment like John F. Donovan seems to be, but because it goes absolutely nowhere. It doesn't even do enough to register as embarrassing. It's 90 minutes of people screaming under pretty Instagram filters and the occasional Grimes track, and then a cut to the end credits just when they're about to start screaming about interesting things.
It honestly feels like 1/3 of a film, like Dolan wrote the first half hour of a highly stylized riff on August: Osage County and then got bored and left it as it was. Which may be his fault or may be thanks to the source material it's adapted from, I can't know for certain. But it really is surprising to me that he looked at that script and thought "I have conveyed full, discernible points with these scenes, and therefore this piece of writing feels complete and ready to go into production". Odd little film.

Odd little film. What about Gaspard Ulliel's César-winning turn? I mean... It's Gaspard!!!

He's okay, I guess. The script doesn't really give him anything substantial to do except stand around and look upset while everybody yells about him. Baye, Cassel and Seydoux were all better. I might even prefer Cotillard, divisive as that performance was.
The whole cast is fine, everyone does as well as they can. It's just that they can't do much.

I love it, I think I wrote something waaaaay back in the day but I understand the reactions, it can easily feel trivial or an utter mess, but it's one of those cases where I immeditely connected with the film, it may not be saying something big or resonant but it goes by the emotions, I see it like a dream or an episode the main character is looking back on, and the actors are great in my opinion, they didn't need to talk, or if they talk you know they mean someyhing different, but dunno, it might be because of personal experiences but yeah, for my money is his more cohesive film to date, even though is louder, eveything feels in control, is effective and it was like a punch in the stomach by the end.
PS I think the Cesar wins were very well deserved although every single award should've gone to Elle, but whatever. Ulliel, Baye and Cotillard are the MVP for me, but again, everyone is good.
Download the torrent, I don't think is available in the US.
