I seriously think he's one of the top young millennial actors working today . Starred Up, '71, Unbroken & that Netflix show/miniseries Godless...dude is bad ass in everything I've seen him in so far.
Anyone else a fan?

He's good. He hasn't exactly wowed me in anything, but he's definitely better than Taron Edgerton.

He was already outstanding in Skins, so his good film performances didn’t come as a surprise. Hopefully he’ll get more opportunities to showcase his talent.

Always found it interesting and ironic that across all the seasons of Skins, the breakout stars have been ethnic side/supporting actors used primarily as comic relief. Dev Patel and Daniel Kaayula. Not sure even the creators and casting staff behind Skins expected that.
O'Connell and Nicholas Hoult were the types (complex Caucasian lead studs on Skins) you expected to get tonnes of opportunities, and they have. And they are successful working actors. But Patel and Kaayula have clearly leapfrogged them in industry status, despite not having all those opportunities.
O'Connell is a fine actor. I think he was getting a big industry push to be seen as a young Russell Crowe or Tom Hardy type, but Unbroken and Money Monster proved to be underwhelming vehicles (and I think many found his accent and performance in the latter to be misguided), and the hype sort of went away. He's young and stays working, so I'm sure he'll get another push for mainstream leading man status at some stage again.

O'Connell is terrifying in Eden Lake, especially with that devious grin of his. Brilliant performance in a real chilling film. Made me a fan of O'Connell instantly.

Eden Lake was a hard watch but it was pretty damn good esp O'Connell's fucked up character . He has a wide range thats for sure and I'd LOVE to see him work with Nolan someday .

Love him. He's been great in everything I've seen him in.He's a actor in the same vein as Tom Hardy and I really hope he becomes a big star.

If you had told me a few years ago that the first two actors from Skins would be nominated for Oscars in consecutive years and neither of them would be O’Connell I would not have believed you. While I think Kaluuya will probably be a big star I don’t think moving forward that Patel will receive nearly as many opportunities for roles as O’Connell or Hoult. Patel has done extremely well for himself but he is also very lucky. There just aren’t nearly as many roles for him in Hollywood. I hope I’m wrong though he is talented.

I like him. I thought he was quite good in Unbreakable - very credible American accent work, too.
He and Sienna Miller recently did a revival of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof on the West End - his performance was singled out as excellent by many reviewers.
