It's one of my most favorite cities!
I think my choice is Sidney Lumet's The Verdict. What's yours?

Probably The Town. The Social Network and The Friends of Eddie Coyle come close.

Good Will Hunting.
I am going there in 2 weeks and cannot wait!!! One of the first things I am doing is going to the Common to see the bench.

I guess it is more than likely The Departed.

The Verdict for me which is just a monumental screenplay - one of Mamet's finest things and you could study it - and it's an adaptation too. Sometimes if you just pay attention to dialog James Mason or Jack Warden or any number of supporting characters get you really realize what a tour de force screenplay that is.
One of the most memorable scenes in the film, Rampling getting decked by Newman, would never get remotely close to being in the film today.

The Town or The Departed . leaning towards The Town though. IMO Affleck captured the city a bit better than Scorsese.

Not sure I've ever seen a Boston set film that I didn't like. I might be a little biased as well since I spent a few of my younger years in the New England area and still have some family there as well. So this is really a take your pick kind of thing...
The Departed The Town Good Will Hunting Mystic River Gone Baby Gone The Fighter

Well she might love it, but if the writer won't write it she can't play it............wait, have we gotten rid of the screenwriter now??? Whew! That was close - one day, the way movies are going, that'll happen.

I have to mention the Merchant/Ivory production, The Bostonians. It features one of Nessa Red's best performances... Despite her Best Actress Oscar nomination, it seems weirdly underseen. Check it out!
