Shoah (1985) -- An emotional and important documentary. My biggest problem is that the 9 and a half hours I spent watching it felt like we were only scratching the surface. 8/10
Molly's Game (2017) -- Sorkin is at full blast here and I wouldn't have it any other way. This movie seemed custom made to please me: the machine gun dialogue, the themes of Molly's anger at the world driving her to win at any cost, that corny scene with her dad, it's all the sort of thing that warms the cockles of my frozen heart. And I know that it shouldn't, because Sorkin has been doing this for ten years and barely even switches it up anymore. But I like all of his other movies, and this one just makes me so happy it exists. May he write a thousand more gooey Lifetime movies of the week. Oh, and Queen Chastain is in this so it's automatically in the top 5 of the year. 9/10
It (2017) -- This isn't a very good horror movie. But hey, I enjoyed the film as a piece of entertainment in the "knockoff Spielberg" variety. Taken as such, it's pretty good. 7/10

Love Simon - Really enjoyed this. I couldn't relate to the main character sexuality problem, but I did like him and his arc. The rest of the cast was good too, and I liked their relationships being explored as well. Nick Robinson has a lot of potential. - 7.5 / 10
Blade Runner 2049 - God this is film a masterpiece. Love the cinematography, love the performances, love the special effects, and I especially love how they expanded upon the first. It really feels more like a detective story then the first Blade Runner. Honestly, I think I might just prefer it over the original. It hits all the right boxes. - 9.5 / 10
A Better Life - 7.5 / 10
Crazy Rich Asians - Very nice romantic comedy. Starts out well, though it does devolve into melodrama and cliches typical of the genre by the end. Constance Wu is great and charming, though I still find Awkwafina irritating, and not very funny. Pleasant stuff. - 7 / 10
Frequency (2000) - 7 / 10

At the First Breath of Wind - beautifully framed and paced slow cinema, piavoli works better here in this format than Nostos imo. 8
After Last Season - singular viewing, singular vision. would kill for more films like this. 8.5
Prospero's Books - haha what the hell. 8
Last Days - van sant does it again, really dig the vibe of this, and i think it flows marvelously. 8
First Reformed - surprised that this is actually good, not quite as good as some people say but i really love the look and ideas here. 8

The Great Silence (1968) - 9/10 Absolutely brutal. If we're not counting Dead Man, this is the greatest western movie I've ever seen. The last twenty minutes or so are incredible.
Tombstone (1993) - 5/10 Big meh. Powers Boothe is entertaining, at least.

First Reformed - good not great. 7/10. Still processing it so my opinion may change.
The Umbrellas of Cherbourg - engaging story/performances + great music. 7.5/10.
Don't Torture a Duckling - Really cool stuff. 7.5/10. Could go higher on a rewatch cuz I wasn't all there while watching.
The Last House on the Left - not what it could've been, but not bad. 6.5/10.
Faces of Death - again, not what it could've been. Intriguing premise, boring execution (no pun intended). 5/10.
The Big Sleep - Decent, but I didn't entirely connect with with the characters/story. 6/10.
Rio Bravo - loved it. I was completely enthralled from start to finish. 8/10.
