Metal Gear is a cartoon. It has some great ideas, but adapting its silliness to film would be a terrible idea.
And having Jordan Vogt-Roberts attached to anything is an especially terrible idea.

In all seriousness, if a movie is made, it had better be a complex philosophical and moral stew of a story like Sons of Liberty. Go big or go home.
And Jordan Vogt-Roberts... I can't see him going big. Both The Kings of Summer and Kong: Skull Island were depressingly safe, easy movies (that were also pretty bad at that, imo). I can't see the man behind those films making the battle between (to use MGS2 as an illustration) Solidus and the La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo as morally complex and terrifying as it would need to be.
If this goes through, I can't see it working. *Shrug*
