Reese was supposed to play Amy, right? Can you imagine her in that role? It would be an amazing Oscar nomination. But I can't picture her playing those crazy violent scenes. What do you think?

She would've been a hell of a lot more suited to the role than Pike, although considering that Fincher still fucked up the whole thing by cluing us in that Nick wasn't at fault for her disappearance, I don't think it would've made that much of a difference in the end.

Honestly, I can imagine most actresses in the right age range in that role. It's an overrated role, in an overrated film, that in its adaptation sucked all the life and joy out of a rather fun and lively book. I prefer to imagine a different director to be honest.
I would love to see Sarah Michelle Gellar in a good version of Gone Girl.

She would’ve been absolutely terrible.

She's a very good actress, but I can't really see it.

A few weeks ago I feel like we were just talking about Gone Girl and so I rewatched it.
I still don't like it. In fact, the ending of it just irritated me even more because I'm just like "why is no one listening to the head investigator on the case (Dickens)?... how is her story not completely ripped to shreds?..."

I really can't see Witherspoon. Pike was perfect in the role.

Hopefully she would have just played it like an older version of Tracy Flick.

I think Witherspoon could have pulled it off and her girl-next-door image would have made the role less obviously 'icy'.

I wouldn't wish that role on Reese.

Nah.She would've been all wrong for that role. She`s too short for a start.Amy was a willowy, patrician blonde not a short,Southern blonde. If Gwyneth Paltrow was 10 or 12 years younger she would've been perfect for it.

Pike was great, but I can see Reese doing a fine job too.
At the end of the day, though, Reese was an even better fit for Wild, which also turned out to be the better performance of the two, so it all worked out.

I really can't picture her in the role, but I don't think Pike was convincing either.
