Seen it about half-a-dozen times over the years, and every time I see it my reaction is pretty much the same: meh.

I like it. Not as much as I like apples, but I like it all the same.

I like it. Not as much as I like apples, but I like it all the same. Good Will Hunting 2: Hunting Season is better than apples.

Think it’s really solid and watchable with great performances. Always enjoy it.

One thing I noticed in particular in my recent re-watch is just how hilarious Casey Affleck is in this.

It's a fine film for sure, even terrible Ben Affleck being terrible doesn't ruin it. Top stuff from Damon, but he's given a good half dozen or more better performances since. A day will come for me when I won't even count this among the Top 10 performances he's given, and it probably won't be too long from now.

I definitely dig it. its such a damn good crowd pleaser with some really good performances lead by Damon & Williams . The rest of the cast is good too.
8.5/10

Williams is really good and I like the therapy scenes. I don't like the rest of it, namely the scenes with Damon and the Afflecks hanging out and being bros and the Minnie Driver romance. That Elliott Smith song is good too, I guess. I think I gave it like a 6. Although when I saw it in college Robin Williams's story about asking his wife out made me ask out this hot girl (from eastern Europe, could have been a runway model) who I had a class with and basically do a mini-monologue about how much I liked her. She still said , though. But I guess that means it had an impact on my real life, unlike most movies.

Apart from Robin Williams, not memorable. I didn't care for Matt Damon or his douchey friends, I didn't care for Minnie Driver, I didn't care for the mawkish plot. It feels like a vanity project.
Williams gave the best performance because he knew when to hold back, which felt so powerful and understated next to Damon's camera-hogging. Williams communicated so much sadness and pain with such subtle touches. Mesmerizing performance, one of my favorites of that whole year.
