not the grim sort, the kind which one would expect from scorsese and de palma. more of a feel good sort of film, but not exactly mushy. more in the vein of LiT (not nyc but the jist yknow) or a normal baumbach film, which makes you feel nostalgic, like you wish you were there all the time. also, it would help if it's from 80s or onward, though that isn't as compulsory.
suggestions??

Vanilla Sky tries to convey the daydreamy New York 90s. It's a bit of a disappointment at the time from the critic's darling that is Almost Famous - and the dream/fantastical stuff sucks, but Tom Cruise plays like this super unlikable asshole, and the movie is so indicative of its era, and hits all the right nostalgia notes.
