Anderson. He can be overly twee to the point of eye-rolling, but in general I find him much more honest and skilled than Linklater, who aside from A Scanner Darkly and the Before trilogy (which are admittedly excellent) is pretty well worthless.

Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums kick the shit out of Linklater's entire filmography.

Before Sunset is beautiful, but I tend to enjoy Wes's films more.

Linklater wrote/directed Dazed & Confused so he gets a lifetime free pass from me haha.
both of these guys are talented as hell . I'd argue that Linklater is more versatile as a director though . But Wes' filmography (overall) is filled with better / more memorable / superior films. Wes gets my vote.

While both are talented filmmakers, and Linklater has done more films, and has explored more genres, overall I've really enjoyed Wes Anderson's films more. There's just something I enjoy about his style, it almost feels comforting in a weird way.

Anderson's landslide victory here is really, really, really, really bad.

I think Linklater is a better writer but Wes is a better director. I never get the sense that Linklater’s films actually feel like films, they kinda feel like his own thoughts and life philosophies are being spoken by characters on screen. I love that dynamic in the Before trilogy, though. But when it comes to Wes, despite his idiosyncrasies, I’d rather watch it but at times, the deadpan humor just doesn’t land for me.
If I have to choose, I’d go with Wes just because I love his films visually but these two are really different to me.

Anderson's landslide victory here is really, really, really, really bad. Why? And why do people always just make these oh, so bold statements without stating why?

Linklater is incredible at his best, but he can be pretty lame a lot of the time in a way Anderson has never been. Peak for peak I'd still go with Wes, but Linklater's lows definitely lose him this for me.

They speak his thoughts, his philosophies, but they don't demonstrate any of this in action. It's just Rich talking to himself, instead of developing a story that says anything through actually being a story. Coffee shop philosophy is fine and all among friends, but it gets dull in a 2 hour film.

Wes Anderson
The horror of Boyhood cost Linklater a lot of points here.
