I've had no desire to watch it but the techs look nice enough.

Simple. I haven’t watched it yet, and if it were good, I would have by now. I’m kidding. I have no opinion on it either way.

Never bothered to see it. The marketing was unappealing and the mixed reviews didn't help. I'm fine with 1974 version.

I do like it! I think it's beautiful to look at, highly entertaining and Branagh's pretty damn awesome in it. I would say that the way his Poirot gets to his conclusions about the mystery sometimes feels a tad too rushed and that the film doesn't focus on the process of the mystery unfolding as well as the Lumet version does, but at the same time I love that they gave this Poirot more personality and that it was as much fun as it was.

Oh honey, life itself is not a remake!
Oh hang on, let me write it again so it sounds better...

Personally, aside from Michelle Pfeiffer, I thought everything about it ranged from distinctly average to bad.

No lie, when they started to call Poirot "funny looking" I started imagining him being played by Steve Buscemi with that ridiculous mustache and accent and I nearly choked on my drink.

I found it to be a terribly conceived, soulless mess with some of the shoddiest acting and editing of last year. Branagh's piss poor directing (I'm still not convinced it actually had a director, really, it has so little humanity and creativity it's almost like something an AI would come up with) is only surpassed by his horrible turn as Poirot, which has to be one of the smuggest, most ill-conceived performances of the entire decade. There's something incredibly off-putting about how the guy tries to pass off unconvincing affectation (the moustache, the campiness, the accent) as refined ~*character acting*~. The rest of the cast range from godawful (Depp) to good but ultimately wasted (Pfeiffer), the CGI/green screen is an eyesore and the little details they changed from Christie's novel make no sense at all. The actual reveal was embarrassingly executed. Definitely not looking forward to whatever Poirot Cinematic Universe Fox is cooking up.

While I quite dug Branagh's awful, horrible, no-good, disgraceful turn as Poirot (and the movie's suckiness as a whole), I confess to having no desire to see Death on the Nile. You can't capture this lightning in a bottle twice.
