Isn`t Meryl way too old to play Marmee?. I'm guessing she'll be playing Aunt March.

Think Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet and Joe Wright's Pride & Prejudice. I think this will introduce a new generation to a beloved classic. It's getting the crème de la crème treatment with this team - I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do with it.

Maybe. But those two films haven`t had anywhere near the number of remakes that Little Women has.The last one,the BBC adaptation, aired less than 6 months ago.The next,a modern day version, is out in September.

So Greta just confirmed that Meryl is playing Aunt March and not Marmee. That makes more sense.I wonder who they`ll cast as Marmee then?.

Blanchett would sense given the self congratulatory Oscar begging nature of the project, I would love if Pfeiffer were cast and McDormand would feel like inspired casting too. Metcalf was the first to pop in my mind though esp. since Ronan and Chalamet are already on board.

Not trying to come for you, but in every interview of I've seen of Greta she comes across as an extremely grounded and self-deprecating person. She was filmed crying more than a few times when Lady Bird made its way through the festival circuit just because she was so overwhelmed by its reception. Say what you will about her talent (I think she's great), but call her "painfully smug" is just incorrect.

As for Mr Laurence, the rich lonely grandfather of the character Chalamet is playing..........Pacino?? I haven't read or seen any of the adaptations, but could Pacino work in this role? Is it a nothing-role or important? Just saw that one of the producers on this recently produced Danny Collins; we know Chalamet is a huge Pacino fan (I'd buy he's his grandson) and Gerwig is friendly w Pacino, they were trottin' around the festival circuit few years ago..........

Do I want another Little Women film, specially if it's a period pic again? No. Do I want to see this cast act a Greta Gerwig screenplay? Absolutely, hell yea. If I had any doubts about that, Dern's casting won me over.

yeeeah. that cast notwithstanding, I just can't get that excited about another Little Women movie. I'll be sitting tight for the early reviews.
