Just saw Won’t You Be My Neigjbor and Jonathan Kirkcey’s gorgeous score at times reminded me of the works of Carter Burwell. There is also a track, that is in the trailer, that is apart of Michael Nyman’s score to Man On Wire, which is definitely one of the best Documentary scores I’ve heard. What are some others that you can think of that really stand out? It’s interesting to me that it’s almost impossible for docs to get the same awards notices for their music that normal narrative features do. Man on Wire’s score should have been a slam dunk nomination.

I don't think I've ever seen a documentary with a memorable score, but I loved the music in the WYBMN? trailer. Totally forgot that Nyman piece was also in Cook, Thief, Wife, Lover.

I haven't seen Ken Burns's Vietnam War yet, but I've listened to part of the soundtrack by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross which is really good... looking forward to hearing it in context whenever I get around to watching the documentary.

Some of my favorites.
Qatsi trilogy The Thin Blue Line (Phillip Glass is a master at documentary scores, he's done so many) Elfman's Standard Operation Procedure Schifrin's The Hellstrom Chronicles and The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich The Wildest Dream Trinity and Beyond: The Atomic Bomb Movie has a pretty incredible orchestral score from what I recall. Fenton's Planet Earth work A lot of Elmer Bernstein's documentary work is quite good, particularly his stuff with National Geographic, and a film called Genocide, which I have seen.
