yeah, Ebersdorf definitely isn't a real person but I love how they're pretending he is. And they're sticking by their guns so convincingly that it's almost believable. What a delightful twist!

Seems pretty set in stone regardless, and it would make sense anyway. Should be exciting anyway.

OMG. Tilda continues to turn me the fuck on with her first presence in anything. Not one piece of human tissue on this earth has the ability to keep doing that for me and Tilda even 11 years after Michael Clayton - the first time she turned me the fuck on with her first presence in a film, is still doing the same thing. This is a *beep* goddess. Some strange form of phenomena in the air around this universe allowing her to keep doing that for me. Preposterous. I don't look at my ex (and I loved her) the same way.
This movie? Fuck it. But don't mind me, I feel the same about pretty much any new movie coming out.

I'm very excited for this but you do have to wonder whether this is 152 minutes of a director's arty indulgence in service of an original which was less than 100 minutes of a brilliantly lurid horror flick. I mean one of my pet peeves are horror movies for people who dislike horror films - the original Suspiria was lush but it was also trash (and that's a high compliment). A lot of people hate it, and that's a good thing.
This trailer reminds me of the Chan Wook Park thread about "stimulation" - like this trailer was almost too much, like at a certain point it could overwhelm in a bad way.......... still looks great, but......this one is the least effective.

Not very impressed, to be honest. Argento's film relies a lot in sound/score and art direction/production design to create its creepy and heavy atmosphere, and this remake seems to be much more modest in that regard (at least judging from the trailer).

Like the trailer but i'm definitely missing those saturated primary colors and creative production design from the original.

This looks like it has literally nothing that made the original film good. Seems really dull in comparison, at least from the trailers so far.

Like the trailer but i'm definitely missing those saturated primary colors and creative production design from the original. I get what you're saying but isn't it, on the other hand, great to see a remake that is not just reusing the concepts and ideas of the original film but does something completely different? One of the main reasons I'm really looking forward to this is that it looks and feels nothing like the Argento flick while maintaining its core story (and I'm sure it'll pay tribute to it in all the right ways).

I'm all okay with the lack of those aspects as long as it matches the tone of the original.

Horror movie remakes that try to be "different" don't exactly have a track record of being good though.

I'll add that of course I wouldn't want a remake of Suspiria that is just a complete rehash. I just don't see the need for a remake in the first place.

I'm kind of freaking out over how great this looks. The trailer is very much a continuation of the tone and aesthetic of the teaser (which I watch daily); the old-fashioned cinematography, the murky color palette and production design (it's looking very Polanski), the suggestions of visceral terror. I'm so ready for it. And I'm glad I haven't seen the original yet so I can watch this one with an unbiased perspective. Argento's film looks like something I'll definitely enjoy and so does this. They both look very different but also extremely distinctive. I can't think of any horror films from the past few years that look like what Guadagnino is gonna be serving here, which is tremendously exciting.
Take my money, take my soul, I'll sign in blood, whatever you want. I just need to see this movie.
