Not sure if anyone remembers this, but when Black Mass came out in 2015, there was someone on the IMDb board who had a really interesting analysis of the film as an "anti-gangster" movie that deconstructs tropes found in beloved gangster films like Goodfellas. I don't remember who wrote it, but I'm planning on rewatching Black Mass soon and was hoping to read the post again if anyone has it. It was super well-written and definitely helped me appreciate the film on a new level.

I don't know if my review was the one you were talking about, but I did say that it was pretty much the anti-Goodfellas in its portrayal of the criminal underworld:

I remember that. I think it was by a guy named Eddie_Fingers (with Mitchum as his avatar). He popped up on MA every once in a while, mainly discussing crime films.
