Um........I don't like any Tarantino after Pulp Fiction except for The Hateful Eight so I'm not typical, but for me after his first two (marvelous and important) films he was either boring, tremendously idiotic (historical revisionism nonsense) or wallowing in his pop culture excesses.............Kill Bill is the last one especially.
Taking a great idea - so great it made a great movie already (to me) - The Bride Wore Black - and ramming it into the ground with cutesy banter, endless kung fu fights and not very funny in jokes. Quite tiresome, some bravura sequences aside.
6/10

I think it's stylish, flashy, and definitely plays to Tarantino's strengths as a director . . . but I think it feels less emotionally resonant than the second installment. Thurman is great but there's not really much to The Bride in the first film, whereas she becomes a truly great character in Vol. 2. I wish that Vernita Green had been given more to do, as I think Vivica A. Fox was fantastic.

Tarantino's attempt to do his very own brand of an action film is pretty damn awesome. I watched this so many times when I was like 12. It's an excellent exercise in style and pure filmmaking, and I love what he and Robert Richardson did with it visually. I do prefer the second installment (more intelligent, less action-heavy, more script-heavy - the Tarantino I love).

It's one of those handful of films I find near flawless and would consider as close to perfect as perfect gets. I love literally every second of it, and it scores highly for me in practically every level of the art of filmmaking. I've must have watched it at about 20 times, and I never tire of it for even a moment. I get endless enjoyment from it, and would consider it the coolest film ever made. It's a total stunner and my #3 film of all times.

I don't think I have ever been as obsessed with any films like I was for both Vol.1 and Vol.2
10/10 if you ask me. Still love it.

It's good but Vol. 2 is way better.

Everything that isn't Hanzo is shit. Everything with Hanzo is wonderful.
The best thing about both films is probably Budd and Bill talking at the trailer.

The best thing about both films is probably Budd and Bill talking at the trailer. I'd agree with this. Madsen has never been better (and I'd argue he's better than Carradine is in that same film), and the dialogue between the two is some of Quentin's strongest writing. It feels like the ghosts of Sams Peckinpah and Fuller stepped in and took a crack at the typewriter.

It's amazing what they accomplish in developing not only Budd's character but the history between these two men in such a short span. Easily my favorite stuff from the films. and it felt more "western" than either Django or Hateful Eight ever did. The whole "I don't dodge guilt... and I don't Jew out of paying my comeuppance..." is just the bees knees.

When I first heard that line at the end of Kill Bill: Vol. 1, I thought it was perhaps the greatest line Tarantino had ever written. Might even still be after this time. But I was scared that the scene wouldn't live up to the promise of that preview, but it did. And the follow-up ("But then again, so does she.") just makes it even more badass.

It's damn great and entertaining but Vol 2., as already stated, is one of the best written/acted films from Tarantino (plus Michael Parks as Esteban Vihaio gives my favourite cameo performance of all-time...does is count as a cameo? if not, it's still pretty fucking great).

I really do think that Budd was hoping that Beatrix would be able to kill him, and that if she managed to dig herself out of the lonely grave of Paula Schultz, he would've let it happen.

Its balls to walls entertaining as hell. Lucy Liu doesn't get enough credit for her role in this . oh and the soundtrack is the shit but thats to be expected with QT films.

It's my third favorite film of all time. I couldn't tell you the exact amount of times I've seen it since its release. Insanely entertaining, with awesome acting, GOAT production design and editing, and one of the best soundtracks ever put together for a film.

Thurman is still great and the action is really good, but that's about all there is to it. It really is a b-movie martial arts movie with flashier direction. Volume II is better.

Volume 1 is one of my favorite overall action films even though there's more development in the 2nd volume.
