Pretty good predictions all round. One thing that stood out to me is that you aren't predicting Cumberbatch for Patrick Melrose, who I think honestly is contending for the win.

I'm really just interested in this category - because of my fave actor but also, I think because, it's an incredibly weird one and competitive too - I would argue that this is becoming, every year more competitive than the BA Oscar. Obviously I'd love to see Pacino win but I don't think he can win a 3rd Emmy for a performance so subdued though I'd be stunned if he's not nominated. But Jordan looks out here now, he didn't do anything and the show was awful too, I like McLaughlan but I don't really care much about Twin Peaks overall and I think it's still way too cultish I see him the same as Pacino and Daniels, a nominee who can't win. Criss I didn't get at all (I'm predicting him to win I guess) I thought he was fine but not special, but Cumberbatch who is becoming an all-time force on TV (previous winner, perennial nominee) I thought was giving a performance that stands with his best film work in Patrick Melrose and should win but.............nobody saw it BEST LEAD ACTOR IN A LIMITED SERIES/TV MOVIE: Darren Criss | American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace (FX) Jeff Daniels | The Looming Tower (Hulu) Michael B. Jordan | Fahrenheit 451 (HBO) Kyle Maclachlan | Twin Peaks: The Return (Showtime) Al Pacino | Paterno (HBO)

Considering Twin Peaks is eligible this year, I hope to see Lynch/MacLachlan contending hard for it.

I’ll swap Jordan out. Jordan was really excellent which is why despite the reception of the film, I had confidence his performance plus his popularity would get him through, but yeah, I think Cumberbatch, despite the fact that his performance isn’t the most widely seen, will get enough underground support to pull him into the category.

If Darren Criss is nominated for his 'acting' I'll cringe. If he's nominated and wins, I may actually vomit. I have very little love for the Emmys in general, but that would be the last straw.
Also if either Dern or Watts don't make it in for Twin Peaks, it'll be laughable. They should both breeze in, and Dern should romp to the win. Speaking of Twin Peaks, if there are Directing and Writing categories for 'Limited Series', whatever the hell that even means anymore, then it should be winning them with ease, especially directing.

If Dern wins two Emmys in one night for the same category area, immediately the year after winning an Emmy for the same category, we all bow down to Laura Dern.

Really hoping for Naomi to get nominated. And completely agree with Johnny about Criss.

- Hopefully that awful season of Curb is snubbed entirely.
- Louie Anderson and Galifianakis most definitely need to be nominated for Baskets.
- Really confused as to why FX is running Trust in the drama category. Sutherland getting snubbed would be criminal.
- Hoping they go wild for The Americans and Emmerich and Martindale (or Holly Taylor) both score supporting nods.
- Not gonna happen, but it would be great if Olyphant got some recognition for Santa Clarita Diet

Sadly I doubt Twin Peaks is even getting nominated. The Globes are much more open to "weird shit" than the Emmys and they didn't nominate it. The guilds didn't touch it either.

I’m actually beginning to think... maybe they give the big prize to The Americans, and while Russell over Foy and Moss may be a fight, Rhys could surprise as our Best Actor winner. Something about the show, and I have yet to start it but from what I hear, being the consistently great show that it is and ending as strong as it seems it has, I could see this bridesmaid of a show finally getting the recognition it deserves. It’d be one last time to honor the show, and while it doesn’t have the viewership the way something like Game of Thrones does, it’s mainsr popularity has only increased with each passing year and if we remember, it look until Breaking Bad’s last half seasons to become the champion in the Drama category, which was the perfect way to honor a show making its grand exit. These are just my pre-Emmy vibes right now.

With nominations next week this has become an interesting category too - the Emmy's for Mini/Movie acting Male and Female have in this decade become Oscar caliber competitive and Jennifer Jason Leigh could shake this category up big time I think but who would she bump out?
Supporting Actress - Limited Series / TV Movie
Ellen Burstyn, The Tale Penélope Cruz, The Assassination of Gianni Versace Laura Dern, Twin Peaks: The Return Nicole Kidman, Top of the Lake: China Girl Angela Lansbury, Little Women Judith Light, The Assassination of Gianni Versace

No Maclachlan AND no Pacino - but Jesse Plemons for what is essentially a joke and John Legend............yikes. I had MacLachlan and Pacino as 3 and 4 in the category - I could have made a strong case for MacLachlan winning

Well I wouldn't go that far, Patrick Melrose is the best performance I've seen Cumberbatch give - that was great work - and as I've said about him in some other spots he is a TV powerhouse, hope he wins.
But Plemons was witty and solid work but there's no dramatic "there" there - and I'm a fan of his - I really can't see him, Legend or Daniels in that category and I'm no fan of Criss but he was a given. No real problem with Banderas (good) and Cumberbatch (great) but the rest of the category is a hot mess for me.

The petulant rage he exudes in not getting what he wants and the malicious glee he takes in causing misery to his creations is startling, eerily reminiscent of the coiled misanthropy Philip Seymour Hoffman was capable of. The way he takes that Shatner-esque good humor and utterly perverts it into a monomaniacal monstrosity is something incredible to behold. He'd make a very fine winner.

I fucking hate the Emmys! Cannot believe not a single nomination for Twin Peaks? Fuck them.
Edit: Did Lynch get nominated for directing? At least, they've some sense.
