No Twin Peaks, too much Westworld (the second season was a considerable drop in quality), and more importantly the lack of Twin Peaks support. Per usual, the emmy's screwed-up.

Hell yeah!
Barry, Hader, WINKLER! Mrs. Maisel, Bronsaran, Shaloub!
More than a few WTF nods, though.
Also happy to see The Crown love too... except Goode.

Actually, Twin Peaks wound up with nine nominations, most of them techs and Lynch got in for writing and direction. So that's something at least . . .
Still, no acting nods or Limited Series in general? Heresy.

no Pacino! what the hell Not only that but Levinson got in for director and it got in for movie - so clearly the problem with Paterno was the guy playing Paterno

Apparently the voting body works similar to the Academy, where performers vote for performers, writers for writers, etc, so....... who are these actors that voted John Legend instead of Pacino?? And if they didn't see Paterno, well, they had time to watch Genius, Looming Tower, Patrick Melrose........

No disrespect to Oh who's solid in Killing Eve...but to nominate her over Jodie Comer is just retarded. They could've at least stuck her in supporting.

Yeah I'm going to say Pacino got punished for that thing I said in the Theater/Plays thread about Award begging and going "Emmy Fishing" - his 4th time going to the well for HBO ...........and MacLachlan well got punished for being in something so offbeat - there is no way he'll ever be nominated if he wasn't for the multiple role thing he did this year in Twin Peaks - like no one acted more than him. I guess it's better to look at it the way Harvey Keitel used to answer about Scorsese before he won an Oscar......he would say "he is excluded from their mediocrity"

The Good: -David Lynch and Mark Frost for Twin Peaks -Cameron Britton for Mindhunter -Lots of love for Barry including Bill Hader -Lots of love for Atlanta, The Americans, and The Handmaid’s Tale -Jimmi Simpson getting a nod even if I would’ve preferred it for Unsolved -Benedict Cumberbatch’s nod for Patrick Melrose -Sterling K. Brown’s guest nomination for Brooklyn Nine-Nine -Matt Smith for The Crown -Jesse Plemon’s nomination for Black Mirror. I’m surprised he’s not more liked on this board. -Nothing for The Big Bang Theory
The Disappointing: -Noah Enmerich getting snubbed yet again -Little love for Twin Peaks or Mindhunter -The extreme love for Ryan Murphy continues. I understand that Darren Criss nod but 6 acting nominations total? The only other one I kinda get is Finn Wittrock. -Michael Stuhlbarg instead of Peter Sarsgaard in The Looming Tower -I wouldn’t say I loved Trust but I’m surprised it got no love. It had a lot of great performances plus Danny Boyle’s strong direction -No Jared Harris for The Terror -No Andre braugher for Brooklyn Nine-Nine -Still no love for Zack Woods in Silicon Valley -Nothing for The Chi or Counterpart -No Taylor Kitsch for Waco -I love true crime but Law and Order: True Crime was not very good -Mr. Robot being snubbed for its strongest season to date -No Bojack Horseman for animated program

Glad that Betty Gilpin got in! Even tho her nom is for S1, she's even better in S2....... where she's srsly great. Hilarious and kinda sexy, but also kinda scary and sad and disturbed. It's a performance that in a way proves she's a talent that can work across genres.

Happy for everything The Americans, Atlanta, and GLOW.... as well as Louie Anderson, Bill Hader, Ted Danson, Edie Falco (even though I only watched 2 episodes) and John Leguizamo..... but man these nominations are fucked.
Last season of Curb sucked and Larry David was horrible on it... no way in hell he should have been nominated over Galifianakis or Olyphant.
Kenan Thompson in supporting actor? Come the fuck on! Maron or Stanfield should have been there.
Alison Brie was snubbed...
Noah Emmerich, Holly Taylor and/or Margo Martindale were snubbed hard...
John Legend getting in over Pacino, Kitsch, and Kyle fucking MacLachlan is quite possibly the biggest joke of all time.

No Twin Peaks for Limited Series. No MacLachlan. No Dern, or any of Twin Peaks supporting actors. Yeah, what do they know, in comparison with John Legend, Sarah Bareilles and Ricky Martin?
The Emmys are officially a joke.

Yeah, the Emmys picked bad nominees, what else is new The David Lynch nomination is really the only one that matters. Otherwise, rooting for The Americans and Atlanta, I guess. I'm sure some of this other stuff is good, I just haven't seen much of it because I haven't had any interest in keeping up with television in the past year or so, so I dunno.

Anyone else bummed (and a bit baffled) that Michael McKean never got any love for Better Call Saul? He was one of the most compelling TV assholes ever. Such a brilliant character and performance, and not a single accolade to show for it.

Was starting to lean toward Hader taking Comedy Actor but Glover just submitted 'Teddy Perkins' and now I think it's probably his to lose.

Such a brilliant character and performance, and not a single accolade to show for it. I honestly think it's a case where its SUCH an unlikable character that ruined any real chance of a nod. Yeah, there have been people playing total asshole characters that even won in the past (Cannavale in Boardwalk stands out as one) but even then they were considered either cool or badasses, none of which can classify the elder McGill.
