Dicaprio is a terrific actor but he approaches nearly all of his roles in a similar fashion. Watching Inception/ Shutter Island/ Blood Diamond/ Gangs of New York back to back I swear they could all be the same character. Which makes him a terrible actor. Well, terrible in terms of versatility and "body acting".

Dicaprio in Gangs of New York. I just hope Scorsese can continue to find other male leads for his movies. Dicaprio is a terrific actor but he approaches nearly all of his roles in a similar fashion. Watching Inception/ Shutter Island/ Blood Diamond/ Gangs of New York back to back I swear they could all be the same character. But the worst of all is Keanu Reeves in Dracula. What a shame.I agree but I think there's sort of a lineage of bad or stiff movie acting in the type of film this is - Harker is always portrayed ludicrously in the history of the Dracula movies or Dracula rip-offs where it isn't actually Harker - John Van Eyssen for example, like Reeves is basically impersonating his acting I'd say - and part of the fun of Coppola's movie is its like a tour of film history through this film (Oldman's Dracula even actually goes to the earliest cinema!). There is something where it isn't good acting but you get where its coming from at least and move on - I don't think it affects the film, because that's the directors show to me and a lot of it is spectacular level Coppola stuff to where the acting is almost irrelevant in some cases (I'd argue Ryder isn't really that much better than Reeves - heck she might not even be prettier than Reeves ).

MARY REILLY (1996) : chosing both Malkovich + Roberts over DDL + Kidman DRACULA (1992) : Keanu Reeves over Martin SheenROBIN HOOD (1991) : Kevin Costner over Cary Elwes Agree with all three but it's Charlie. Martin would be an odd choice

What about Ed Norton as Amsterdam in Gangs of New York? That's something I thought of before, but I'd put Ed Norton in everything if I could so I'm not the most objective person to ask.

Bogart as the last minute replacement for Cary Grant in Sabrina. Bogart's disinterest makes what could have been an all time great rom-com just "pretty good" to me.
