I was wondering this today. Hamill played one of the most popular characters in film history, is featured in the most famous scene ever (Luke, I am your father!), and yet, he's done virtually nothing note-worthy after that besides voicing the Joker. Do you think Hamill's filmography hides underrated gems and I just suck at searching them or am I right?
It's weird that Ford and Fisher went on to have stellar careers and he's done nothing. I think he was alright in the original trilogy. Nothing outstanding but he showed charisma. And I like his voice-work as the Joker and he improved a lot in The Last Jedi. But since I've never seen him doing anything other than that, I can't really judge his overall acting.
What are your two cents on this matter?

After Luke Skywalker, he spent the better part of the '80s doing theatre - fun fact: he was the original Amadeus in Amadeus and auditioned for the part in the film adaptation but a producer didn't want him because he was Luke Skywalker - and then in the '90s with the Joker he charted a path as one of the premier voice actors in the industry and from hearing him in interviews it seems he's more passionate about that kind of work than full-bodied acting. I think he's a very talented actor whose work on film unfortunately doesn't always reflect that talent. Just as I feel he was coming into his own in the role of Luke Skywalker with a really good performance in Return of the Jedi, the trilogy was finished and the different roads he took in his career meant he didn't have another juicy film part until The Last Jedi where he knocked it out of the park.

As I recall, he was a very well regarded Mozart on stage in Amadeus, but Forman didn't want "a star" and took Hulce instead.
I think his voice acting is solid gold, but I'd love to see him on film again in a major role. His filmography is so nonexistent that it's hard to say how good he is. He definitely matured over the course of the Star Wars trilogy.
Haven't seen The Big Red One.

Absolutely. In fact he's a pretty great actor, and he's only gotten better. He's a terrific voice actor (the best Joker), and he was great in The Last Jedi.
I still remember when he decided to quit live-action-acting just to stick with voice roles in the 2000's. I'm actually glad that didn't pan out entirely. It's great to see him in more live-action roles recently, frankly.

He played The Trickster in CW's The Flash and steals the show almost every time he is on it. Not voice acting either, regular acting.
