Yay. I wasn't a fan of "It Follows" but I'm always up for a zany detective story. I just hope that the weirder bits aren't overdone because some moments in this trailer look like they may not end up working. I don't really feel that its vibe compares to "Inherent Vice" or "Mulholland Drive", but that's a good thing - I'd like for it to be a thing of its own.

It Follows, a horror classic, was my best of 2014 (6.9 on IMDB, yeah right), Garfield is going to be contending (winning?) for a Best Actor Tony in Angels in America this year so his chops are already in place, AND it looks more like Big Lebowski than Inherent Vice/Nice Guys to me which is fine with me too.
I'm definitely in......

Well, this has been one of my most anticipated movies of that year and it probably still is, cause I love mysterious recherche thrillers and detective films (or books). But I was hoping for a modern noir. This looks way to weird and openly humoresque, not as atmospheric as I would have hoped. But yeah, as some others mentioned there are vibes from Inherent Vice and to me also from Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, two movies I liked, so I'm still looking forward to it very much.

Garfield is a good actor, but there's something unappealing about him as a lead. I've long thought the same thing (personally, I think he's what keeps The Social Network from being a straight-up 10/10 classic), but 2016 was a very pleasant turnaround for me on Garfield. He fully deserved his Oscar nomination for Hacksaw Ridge, perfectly capturing that old-school sensibility and grounding Desmond Doss as a man rather than playing him up as a heroic icon, and he was also quite strong in Silence even if I still wish that they'd opted for an older actor for Rodrigues. I feel very similiar about him. He has definitely grown on me as an actor. Didn't like him in The Social Network very much, but his performance in Hacksaw Ridge was excellent. He really led me into the soul of his character.

When I first saw this poster, I didn't notice the little faces hidden in the water bubbles and Andrew Garfield's face in the trees, but someone on another forum pointed it out.

In more bummer release date news, A24 has decided to push back the release of It Follows filmmaker David Robert Mitchellâs highly anticipated follow-up Under the Silver Lake by six months. The film was set to hit theaters in just a few weeks, on June 22nd, but it will now bow on December 7th. Itâs unclear exactly what led to the release date change, but the filmâs Cannes Film Festival debut may hold the key. The film had its world premiere last month at Cannes, where it received mixed reviews. Most critics had some form of.... linkLink isn't working.

Either A24 thinks it is salvageable as a potential awards contender or they'd rather focus on Hereditary. Garfield's not going to be able to do much press now anyway, what with his Broadway duties.

So with Dec wide open for A24, put Gloria Bell there! Or put money into a campaign for First Reformed, could easily get two nods (Hawke and screenplay).

It's not necessarily bad news. The same thing happened to First Reformed and You Were Never Really Here. I guess A24 was really counting with the fact this would be their main awards season horse, but they took a hit at Cannes. From what I've read, it's probably a good movie that just won't make a splash in the awards circuit.
