Hidden Figures is terrible.
Thank God I am here now so someone can highlight what's really important.
There is a scene in the movie where a Polish immigrant Jew is lecturing a young Black lady about how Black people need to behave like Jews to get success in America-that it's on them. This basically summarizes the message of the movie. Racism is Black people's fault. Their culture is the issue. They need to suck up to White people, behave "properly," and then they will get ahead. I couldn't finish it, but I've heard that by the end the White people are magically nicer. See Black people. It's all your fault.
Seriously, it is disturbing how little the substance of the movie is being discussed in the media.

I'm not sure you watched the right movie. Is their a rerelease of The Blind Side going on somewhere or something?

Yup, you definitely didn't watch the same Hidden Figures that I did.

I just saw a cheesy feel-good movie with some clearly fictionalized scenes like Kevin Costner ending racism by knocking down a bathroom sign with a baseball bat, but okay.

It's definitely not terrible but it's very mediocre and has no right getting anywhere close to the Oscars (except in the year 1992)

No
It's not deserving of some of its nominations but its too competent to be terrible and still achieves something crowdpleasing

What's disturbing is that you're registered under an AOL email.

I hated the scene where the white devil Kevin Costner urged black people who worked under him to start riots and destroy public property by breaking that bathroom sign, clearly indicating that he was racist and wanted them all to get killed by the police.
