Mise well make this thread since it comes out on Netflix tonight/tomorrow. I’m hoping for something that’s the same quality as Moon.

"The film is called Mute. I could have called it Tone, but fuck tone." -Duncan Jones, probably.

Awful reviews and as for Moon connection Sam Rockwell's cameo is apparently as disappointing as I read :/

Yikes. It didn't look good going by its trailer, but I didn't expect it to be this bad.

I’ve seen it. I’m heavily dissapointed. It’s not of the same quality as other 5% movies on RT, but it’s below average. Not even close to being as the same quality as his first two films. This was in my top 5 anticipated movies of 2018, maybe top 3, and fuck me it was a chore to sit through. I kept checking the time for the last hour or so. The score, cinematography, and the performances from the main trio are quite good, but the pacing is awful. The tone was all over the place too. While saying that, the humour, mostly from Rudd and Theroux did hit majority of the time. If you aren’t dying to see this or aren’t a huge fan of cyber punk type movies, then I’d suggest to save your time and skip it. There’s a good movie in there somewhere, but yeah. Overly ambitious to a fault.

What’s the budget of this film, anyway? Who knows? Who cares? Well... it looked like it spent considerable budget from what I've seen on the trailer...

This was in my top 5 anticipated movies of 2018, maybe top 3 Same. I haven't watched it yet, but I'm so fucking bummed reading these reviews. I'm hoping Duncan Jones can eventually make something as good as his first two films again.

A damn shame. It was in my top ten most anticipated of the year. I guess I should've known better once it got dumped on Netflix, though. Their big-budget genre films have really been shitting the bed thus far.
I'll probably still force myself to watch it just cuz.

smh a damn shame indeed regarding the overwhelmingly negative reviews . Currently at 9% on RT lol . I'll still watch it eventually (hopefully on Sunday night since I 'm not doing anything that night)

Worst rating than Bright? D'oh. Bright's audience rating was pretty high though. I believe high 80's.

I’ve been anticipating this movie for YEARS. Moon is one of my favorite films of all time. To call the reception disappointing is an understatement. I’m sure I’ll still see it anyways just for the Sam Rockwell cameo.

What a disappointment. I loved "Moon", I really liked "Source Code" and I even did not think "Warcraft" was awful, so yes you could say I considered Duncan Jones for a long time as one of the most interesting and inspired directors of his generation. Now he comes up with his first flop, which is sad, because the film was very promising. Its a neo-noir film and Jones definitely orientated himself at things like "Blade Runner" but was not really able to handle it properly. The acting was either stiff (Alexander Skarsgard) or absolutely unnecessarily and painfully over the top (Paul Rudd). The only one who was good was Justin Theroux, in an almost unrecognizable role. I liked the score by Clint Mansell and the reference to "Moon" was kind of cool. Also the look in general was good. Very atmospheric at times, but at other times it had a cheapish touch. I really think the biggest problem of the film was that neither characters nor story were really developed much. It ended up being very boring and uninteresting and only some visual aspects made it interesting to follow. Please Mr. Jones, take more thoughts into your next project again.
