This looks/sounds really weird. She seems to be into oddball studio films right now with this, the Malick stuff, John F. Donovan, and Annihilation.
The "fictional career" is always an interesting way to look at the passing of an era. Like Citizen Kane, not that this will be as good, but you get the idea. We'll see how this works out.

I think she's got a shot at a nomination but the film still remains (as far as I know) unpurchased by a distributor, Portman doesn't appear until an hour into the film, and the category is uncommonly strong this year . . . and there are still several performances yet to be screened. |

Stranger things have certainly happened, but I'm inclined to think that they'd view it as more of a Geoffrey Rush in Shine-style setup, because she isn't supporting regardless of screentime. |

It's true that she appears halway into the movie, but after that it's basically the Portman show. No way will they push her as supporting.
