That would be excellent casting! Hope it happens.
On a side note, I gotta say that (overall) I enjoy the X Men films more than those MCU movies as a whole.

Cool, but the charactes she's playing Lilandra, actually isn't a villain. Fox is probably using her as the villain to add more conflict.
J-Law's also back. If you went by her performances in Apocalypse, you'd swear she checked out. They're no doubt paying her a lot.

She's spreading herself a bit thin as of late. I think she could stand to be a bit more selective. I actually can't remember the last time she said no to anything?

She's spreading herself a bit thin as of late. I think she could stand to be a bit more selective. I actually can't remember the last time she said no to anything? I agree. She was one of my favorite actresses there for awhile, and I was excited where her career was going to go, but I've had the same feeling since last year about her. I have to respect the fact that she gets attached to so many films that do actually get made unlike some actors who sign up for project after project that never seem to go anywhere. Plus, I can see why she might feel her time is limited since her age was revealed to be older than what she would like people to know, and there's tons of competition for roles in that age range. However, it feels like now she's just taking anything whether she's actually right for something or not. To reference the actress in your username, I think Chastain (well probably most actresses) would love to have a career like Adams where she's desired by so many directors and is able to basically do almost anything, but I don't think it's working for Chastain because it seems many of her films just aren't of the same quality as Adams and/or she's totally wrong for something unlike Adams, who for the most part is consistent in her work.

Some scattered thoughts on this. I didn't know they were making a fourth one, and to be honest, as much as I enjoyed First Class and DOFP, I can't say I wished they would. Apocalypse wasn't as bad as its reviews indicate, but it was so damn uninspired it created zero anticipation for another sequel. Kinberg being a first-time director gives me pause, as well. Also, my excitement about Jennifer Lawrence's future slate has just been further deflated. I'd hoped that once she was done with The Hunger Games/ X-Men and cooled down on the David O. Russell front she would dedicate her time to interesting projects that allowed her to fully explore her talents and diversify her output, but knowing that she'll continue to devote large portions of her time to a franchise she seems completely uninterested and erased in stifles some of that hope. I'm stoked for the Aronofsky, but between the news that she's coming back as Mystique and the fact that she's chasing yet another franchise with Red Sparrow (which she reportedly chose over the Steve McQueen/Gillian Flynn joint starring Viola Davis), on top of how Passengers turned out, I'm feeling we won't be seeing that many mother!s in the next few years. As for Chastain, I definitely wish she wasn't doing this, but it wouldn't be a terrible choice all things considered. I actually can't remember the last time she said no to anything? Is that kind of information usually made public? We know what people sign up for, not always what they decline. I'm sure she must be passing on a lot of offers. I think Chastain (well probably most actresses) would love to have a career like Adams where she's desired by so many directors and is able to basically do almost anything, but I don't think it's working for Chastain because it seems many of her films just aren't of the same quality as Adams and/or she's totally wrong for something unlike Adams, who for the most part is consistent in her work. I've said multiple times before that Adams is basically unparalleled by her peers when it comes to filmography and project selection, but she's an exception rather than the rule. Not everyone can afford to be as selective as she is, and it wasn't until this decade that she really reached her current peak, after years in the industry with a couple misfires under her belt. Chastain isn't at that level -- and as a matter of fact, I get the impression that for the time being she doesn't really want to slow down to that rhythm. That's why she's always developing so many projects and buying the rights to so many properties: she's eager to work and get stuff made. Plus, unlike Adams, she doesn't have children, which means she can keep busy. Also, it might be worth noting that as insane as the number of projects she's attached to may be, she's certainly spreading them out. She hasn't filmed anything since Molly's Game, which wrapped in January, and other than this X-Men gig if the deal is officialized, she won't shoot again until the Fall, when that George Jones/Tammy Wynette biopic with Josh Brolin is apparently scheduled for. It helps that she's a producer on a lot of the stuff she's signing up for, like the Ingrid Bergman project, so she can fit her schedule accordingly (or possibly hire other actresses in her place, which I'm expecting will happen with a couple of these). I'll have to disagree with you on that last part, though. She has plenty of highs in her filmography already (the list of people she's collaborated with so far is nothing short of enviable, and she also has some masterworks like The Tree of Life and Zero Dark Thirty under her belt), and I personally think she's one of the most consistently watchable and committed actresses working at the moment. She's shown more range so far and seems more willing to flex her acting muscles and try new things, and as a result, she's impressed me more often. Even in stuff that's lower profile and less successful like Miss Julie we can see her pushing herself in new ways and delivering something that's different from the rest of her output, so I can't not count that as a positive for her. That's admittedly not the case when it comes to playing a villain in an X-Men movie , but for the most part, I dig the variety in her body of work. Plus, I appreciate the way she's putting her money where her mouth is and actively supporting a cause she's passionate about by developing female-centered projects from the ground up. That's a worthy effort.

Take a look at Sophie Turner's Jean Grey and Jessica Chastain's villain. EW

I'm assuming (and hoping) this is not the final version. Also, Kimberg's talk of making this movie more character-grounded makes me hopeful.

Doesn't look bad, hopefully Jean is actually the center of the film this time.

I think this is a really great concept shot, and a lot of the details of the movie sounds interesting.

I wonder if it'll be as unimaginably fucking stupid as the last couple of ones have been. Get this shit back to Marvel already. They've blown it.

collider.com/hans-zimmer-x-men-dark-phoenix-composer/Guess that "I'm retiring from superhero" business was all for naught. I suppose the large check he received was too good to turn down though. This is rather unexpected too. At this rate Zimmer will score every franchise in existence.

“I wanted to capture the feeling of what Xavier would listen to on his iPod. And Magneto’s very powerful, so his music is all about power.”
I love the guy, but this is beyond uninspired.

The man can do wonders but time and again he puts his efforts in wrong areas and wastes his talent. Sure a 'Dark Knight' can come out from one of these but he has to work with Nolans or Mangolds for that. Consider myself disappointed.

He says similar things in every interview, all the time. I guess it's no different from your average person being friendly and praising, but it always comes off as fake.

Not sure what ppl are worried about. Zimmer's score for Man of Steel is one of his best. I'm staying optimistic.
