Not bad for one day, folks. Thanks to everyone for embracing this place in the event that IMDb is indeed not fucking around.

With that said we won't have the same level of exposure now. Unless it somehow gets popular amongst certain circles

A few people already mentioned on here they are former FGers or lurkers that will now post. The community might not grow too much beyond what was already on IMDb, but the "gang's back together" vibe will be strong.

Keep posting in case they do go through with it. I admit I mostly hang around the Movie Awards Board, but I always liked checking out the individual movie boards. Where else can you find some discussion on some random 50s movie? I'm seeing a ton of complains about their decision. Every comment on their facebook page (their new suggestion to use) is against it too. Still holding out hope... glad people are still interesting in a discussion forum though. People are even cloning the main IMDB boards. At least we'll have something either way.

IMDb is probably going to be axed as a whole now that Amazon last year's financial statements have been released. They started with the community and will probably follow with the website as a whole. Or they will probably just merge it as a Facebook function.
Don't blame them though. The boards aren't characteristic of having high Alexa ratings nor getting any kind of revenue whatsoever, same goes for IMDb other than ads.
Boxofficemojo got rescued because it at least brought some transparency to an overlooked side of the industry, it being box office performance which can be a little bit shady at times. It is also why the media joined the backlash surrounding its closure.
