Did they seriously start off Tulip Fever with 800 locations?! Yup. It's a dump job for Weinstein. My theater's getting it though.

Did they seriously start off Tulip Fever with 800 locations?! It's like for every Lion there's six releases he botches beyond salvation. In addition to taking a film with zero buzz ridiculously wide in the first weekend, he also published this bizarre piece on Deadline that starts out chronicling the process of getting it made and then becomes this surreal attempt at defending what he must've known were going to be very negative reviews with gems like this: I like how he doesn't even bother to pretend at this point.

Yeesh. I'm starting to believe that The Emperor's New Clothes was actually his biography.

If told to guess which was the only movie this summer to be #1 at the box office for 3 straight weekends, how many people would say The Hitman's Bodyguard?

Did they seriously start off Tulip Fever with 800 locations?! What were you expecting to happen? lol I feel like most studios would've done the same. The film is a piece of shit and they knew it would get the terrible reviews it has. The only thing a slow rollout would do is give the bad WOM a chance to circulate even more before going wide. I don't think this is an example of a hack job from Harvey, and for all shit he's currently getting, Lion was a pretty massive hit and he's currently doing wonders with Wind River.

Least number of tickets sold in a weekend since 1988.
Anyway, if I had the chance, it would be interesting to see Close Encounters on the big screen. But I do not have that chance.

Exhibitor Relations @ercboxoffice Taylor Sheridan's WIND RIVER is quietly pulling off another HELL OR HIGH WATER as his latest jumped 27% this weekend w/ $5.8M, $18M total.
Deadline now has it at 7.2 million for the 4-day. Will definitely pass HoHW and 30 million now.
