Beyond her astonishing beauty - share your thoughts? What do you think of her as an actor? I find her to be such an energetic presence - almost like a jolt of lightning. However, in Visconti's 'Sandra' (my favorite of her films), she strikes a very haunting and melancholic tone. I think she has more range than people give her credit for. Oh, and didn't you love this year's Cannes poster? What an honor to be featured there. Legend.

In my Top 5 of the most beautiful actresses of all time . And has there even been a more beautiful screen pairing than Cardinale and Alain Delon in The Leopard? Anyway , back to the acting part : I've always found her to be a very captivating and charismatic actress with a natural screen presence . She made it look so effortless . She's always managed to radiate character, strength and humanism in all the films I've seen with her. ps : Brando tried to have sex with her but she turned him down

Well she's certainly one of cinemas great beauties and she also enlivened almost anything she was in - I always thought that why she's cast in Fitzcarraldo, because just having that face in that part lends your film that feel of class or esteem.
She's an actress of keen intelligence and charming humor too and her resume has classics in an astonishing range of big production titles - - and I'm not even talking about her best work here, just that she was on top of world cinema and in important stuff for a long long while and in a lot of roles.
Big Deal On Madonna Street (58) 8 1/2 (63) The Leopard (63) Once Upon A Time In The West (68) Fitzcarraldo (82)

Have you seen her in A Girl in Australia (Bello, onesto emigrato Australia sposerebbe compaesana illibata)? It's maybe my favorite role of hers.

HELENA MARIA - She would never! She was incredibly devoted to her partner, Pasquale Squitieri - he unfortunately just passed away this year. pacinoyes - Her beauty is certainly used quite effectively in her haunting cameo in 'Conversation Piece,' too, don't you think? cherry68 - I haven't, but thank you for the recommendation!

Such a classic beauty. I really liked her in Girl with a Suitcase.

@tyler - Lovely indeed in her brief scene in Conversation Piece which if anyone is looking for a double feature makes a good one with Pasolini's Teorema.
