Scarjoke takes another L this year. And lol I'm a bit surprised that stay_cool didn't resurface to promote Mandy Moore and 47 meters down.

Wonder Woman at a very strong 37m Cars 3 at 51m All Eyez at 33,5m 47 Meters at 10m Rough Night at 9m All down from early estimates -Wonder woman is looking likely for 350m -Sony is probably in complete panic mode currently, and are praying Spiderman does 120m+ deadline.com/2017/06/ cars-3-all-eyez-on-me-tupac-shakur-rough-night-scarlett-johansson-mandy-moore-47-meters-below-1202114764/ Yikes at that Rough Night number. Thought that the female audience would come out in droves for this just like Bad Moms last year.

I did, too, but Sony really squandered the potential I guess Girls Trip will be the breakout this summer

Ghost is her fault, but Rough Night had huge potential, but Sony fumbled with all the marketing-- if this was Universal, it would be opening over 25m Did it? Reviews are mediocre and the audience ratings are even worse, so maybe Sony didn't have as much to work with as you think? I didn't read the script but it looks and sounds like Very Bad Things which had a much more proven star for the genre and was also a flop. Sony promoted the film a lot. A 35 million ad spend for a 20 million dollar movie feels like a decent amount of promotion. It's debatable whether they could have cut stronger trailers, but I don't think a lack of awareness was the issue here. I'm just not sure this kind of thing is an appealing concept for viewers and I think the industry got carried away in promoting Scarlett to headlining A-lister based off of one hit, when everything else throughout her career were flops. I don't think she's charismatic enough nor does she have enough screen personality to sustain that type of career. That this film was beat by a junkie shark movie that's been online for over a year is embarrassing.

That this film was beat by a junkie shark movie that's been online for over a year is embarrassing. I know you despise Scarlett for whatever reason, but yes it had some potential A decent script and concept (whether the concept was off-putting can be argued, but it still could have been pushed as an event comedy with the proper trailer), an appealing cast, a prime summer release date, a decent female narrative-- there's no way it should have opened as low as it did (I dont think it was going to do anything near Bridesmaids numbers, but under 50m is truly embarrassing) Even with the reviews, it's unforgivable for this film to open as low as it's doing-- even worse reviewed films like Mike and Dave, and Fist Fight opened higher Sony issued some reshoots after they cut a terrible trailer, re titled the film, and didnt even bother to screen anything major at CinemaCon-- they held the embargo late which didnt help counter low expectations from critics! They panicked over the film which lead them to the even more baffling decision to move Baby Driver into June It's a tricky film to sell in the first place and they never settled on how they wanted to push it (is it a female Hangover or is it a dark comedy) That's why you get such conflicted and poor cinemascore scores Wonder Woman breaking out in the manner it did also didnt help Like Piku addressed in this thread, there's female audiences hungry for these kinds of comedies (Snatched underwhelmed, too), and with all the meh marketing, they'll just wait to see Girls Trip next month

Not a great number for Cars considering the midnight number.

Friday numbers have come in.Pretty good number for Cars 3. I think $60 million is still in play. Awesome legs for Wonder Woman. All Eyez on Me did great and 47 Meters Down earned more on its first day than I thought it would over the weekend. As for The Mummy and Rough Night... ouch.

Sucks about Rough Night. It was actually pretty funny (though Jillian gets annoying at times), but I guess the marketing could have been a thing. Also wish they kept the original title (Rock That Body). "Rough Night" is super generic. Also don't get how low that audience score is...maybe mainstream audiences aren't so into dark comedies.

It's a shame that Rough Night tanked. It wasn't anything spectacular, but there were a lot of big laughs and the cast worked really well together...Kate McKinnon is especially delightful in it.
I saw it Saturday evening and was surprised to find that it was in a fairly small theater at the back of my multiplex with only a handful of other people in the theater with me. [
