For me, Huston's best film is The Man Who Would Be King.

But Huston & Bogart's best film together is The Treasure Of The Sierra Madre. It's also Bogart's best performance with Huston. So that gets my vote. It's also very notable how much this film influenced There Will Be Blood, to the point where I don't think the latter film would exist without the former, which even Paul Thomas Anderson more or less admits.

Let's not go too far now, you're talking to a certified PTA fanbot here. But of course Sierra Madre's fingerprints are all over TWBB, although PTA takes his film to different directions. That's what I love - when a filmmaker being inspired/fueled by something doesn't mean that the filmmaker has to turn into a copyist. It's the same with Punch-Drunk Love - heavily inspired by Tati and yet nothing about the filmmaking itself replicates his approach. It's all on the DNA level.

As for Huston & Bogart, I'll be honest: I haven't seen Across the Pacific or Beat the Devil... but I doubt they'll have anything on Sierra Madre.

BTW, a suggestion for the upcoming rounds: Pollack & Redford! Although I'll need to watch Havana and rewatch Three Days of the Condor to vote so this isn't an immediate request or anything

Haven't seen Across the Pacific

1. The Treasure of the Sierra - 9.5/10

The adventure classic

2. Key Largo - 8.5/10

Top tier twisted edgy noir with a sick Joker-esque Edward G Robinson key performance.

3. The African Queen - 8.5/10

I like it more than All About Eve in terms of talky old Hollywood movies, but a lot of it is because of the war genre elements which it definitely had.

4. Beat the Devil - 8/10

I like it. Not Treasure of the Sierra Madre, but still Bogart and Lollobrigida and the happenstance nature of it.

5. The Maltese Falcon - 7/10

I just don't like it, but I'll rewatch it
