I'll go with A Separation tonight, but I've admittedly seen a few - know a few about our kino... (With a shoutout to Under the Olive Trees which I saw last year)

Well Chinatown is my favorite film and like sometimes happens you needed someone not born in America, who spoke English as a 2nd (or lees) language to clearly see the full tragedy he was hired to direct.......changed the ending too yanno? In Chinatown most of the horror happens in broad daylight......and it happens to people who don't even know it's happening at all actually....it's just another sunny day.........

Mysteries of Lisbon (2010), which is in my top 20 of all time.
Shoutout to The Metamorphosis of Birds (2020), which was the last time I was blown away by a movie of my home country.

i can't imagine it ever changing being my fave - and it's been my fave since the time I first saw it on TV as a little, devilish boy..........I used to tell this story a lot in the IMDB days - I am a sucker for this general plot anyway: A man (always a man ammirite?) who is either a cop or a de facto cop investigates something with links to his past and winds up making the "new case" worse ........with often tragic results.......he is not only NOT the hero............he's a causal villian (causal not casual!) The amunt of pacinoyes favorite movies that follow that plot outline is ridiculous: Chinatown, The Conversation, Oldboy, Memento, Blow Out are probably top 20 favorites and the first 2 are 1-2.........clearly on some level I am the one making things worse with often tragic results..........but it's not even 8:30 am EST so I am hopeful things get better aftr the coffee and what not

The former (though he's memorable in the latter as well)... My best actor win for that year gotta be either him or Nicholson for Five Easy Pieces.

Either A City of Sadness or Yi Yi.
I rarely watch films from here but these two are masterpieces
