This thread is inspired by Mathieu Amalric, one of France's great living actors (3 César wins!), referring to Ronet as "[his] James Dean" in the documentary short Jusqu'au 23 juillet (2006). Apparently, watching The Fire Within at 15 inspired him to become an actor. So, please do share your thoughts and recommendations! Would you rate him as highly as Amalric? Elevator to the Gallows Purple Noon The Fire Within La piscine

Elevator to the Gallows Purple Noon The Fire Within La piscineI always say he is one of the rare male actors who is not considered a GOAT who - to me - has a GOAT level male performance ( The Fire Within)........this happens more often for females - Naomi Watts in Mulholland Drive or Maria Falconetti ......usually the reason GOAT men are the GOAT men is because they have at least one "great" one they throw down as evidence.........Godfather II, Raging Bull, TWBB blah blah blah........but it's very rare to me that a male actor most people do NOT know has one at that level (Patrick Dewaere in Serie Noire is another)..... I enjoyed his The Pit and The Pendulum (1964) as well.....full film below...........
