I vote Saving Private Ryan, which really kicked off an era that continues till this day of stylistically similar epic war dramas like Dunkirk, Blackhawk Down, 1917 and Hacksaw Ridge. The DNA of TV mini-series like Band Of Brothers, The Pacific and Masters Of The Air are all from this movie

TThe first 25 minutes of Saving Private Ryan.......what, not funny? The ending of the that film - every bit as dishonest as the ending of Do The Right Thing btw - takes what should have been an overwhelming tragedy Ryan is dead from the start, their mission is for nothing and makes it a treacly simplistic mush.....but there's a lot of great moments along the way particularly in one of Hanks greatest acting scenes - where he hears the propaganda broadcast and is simultaneously angry, amused, baffled, confused by it......... and shows it all on his face with no dialog ...........oh and ......

Saving Private Ryan. The opening D-Day scene..wow! Spielberg was in his bag with this film.

Happy to see the Catch Me If You Can Love, such an insanely rewatchable movie that. But of course I voted Saving Private Ryan I only find The Post underwhelming in this strong list.

Catch Me If You Can is my favorite here. One of Spielberg's slickest directorial efforts, endlessly entertaining, and really sticks out as a personal effort given how much divorce hangs specifically over that film.
Saving Private Ryan is obviously a super strong film, though I do agree with the idea that its best material is in the opening (but that opening is one of the greatest sequences ever so not exactly a bad thing). Bridge of Spies is also marvelous and might be my actual 2nd favorite here.

I like Catch Me If You Can. It's a fun, breezy movie. I just think Saving Private Ryan has a lot more substance to it, and also really was a game changer in how war movies were shot.
Thought The Post and The Terminal we're kind of forgettable. Bridge Of Spies was solid.

Catch Me If You Can seems fun and breezy on the surface, but I actually find it a pretty melancholic movie exploring the idea of role-playing and how it ties into self-delusion, denial of reality, living a lie, not realizing the world has moved on and you won’t accept it.
I like SPR and it certainly has greatness in it, but it's a frustrating movie to me in various ways and it's too deeply flawed for me to rank it among Spielberg's best.

Y'all remember during American Hustle's campaign when they were really trying to elevate the movie by talking about how it's about how everyone in America hustles to survive? The movie they were talking about was actually Catch Me If You Can.

Saving Private Ryan for the best film and performance, but I have the most fun with Catch Me If You Can out of these.
