Interesting guy and also an interesting actor in that he is extremely reactive rather than an actor who forwards the momentum........not only an actor but a director, an original screenwriter, an adapter of novels, etc Kings and Queen (2004) another Desplechin film is a good place to get a handle on him - though he dabbles in so much getting a handle on him can be difficult Like all kind hearted workaholic people........ a coffee addict in his movies often actually

I watched My Sex Life... or How I Got Into an Argument and while I loved Amalric and Emmanuelle Devos in it (they're even better in Kings and Queen), I didn't necessarily buy the characters or the relationships... But one thing to say about Desplechin - the soundtracks for his films are always incredible.

Definitely not for all tastes........his pacing is a ......always a problem for me ............btw: Desplechin making a movie with my beloved Léa Seydoux and Sofia Coppola cousin Jason Schwarzman: A report from Ecran Total confirms that Léa Seydoux, Jason Schwartzman, John Turturro, and Golshifteh Farahani will star in “The Thing That Hurts,” which has just secured financing with Belgian money.

The *that guy!* of European cinema. Have you liked what you've seen of his acting? I guess his most essential performances as an actor would be... My Sex Life... or How I Got Into an Argument Alice and Martin Late August, Early September Kings & Queen Munich The Diving Bell and the Butterfly A Christmas Tale Quantum of Solace The Grand Budapest Hotel Venus in FurEdit: pacinoyes Mattsby HELENA MARIA - Are there others you guys would definitely recommend? I'm particularly fond of his work in Xavier Giannoli's Cannes- and César-winning short film, L'Interview - it's a must for fans of Giannoli, Amalric, and Ava Gardner.

He's one of my favorite authors films Emmanuel Carrère's La Moustache - though not the lead - and that's a better story (absurist btw) than a film.......though everybody shoudl read or see everything by Emmanuel Carrère - who wrote imo the greatest true crime book of all time (The Adversary) which was turne into a pretty good film with Daniel Auteuil..............he's IN a lot of stuff like that where he's not the lead but makes the most of a few scenes..........he even pops up in An Officer an A Spy too.........all those are interesting - even great films but you have to be on La Moutrache's absurdist wavelength.........
