Okay, I'll be doing this as a series of sorts. Very simple....Gonna choose some famous Director/Actor pairings, and you guys vote for their best film. Pretty straightforward. I thought the legendary pairing of Martin Scorsese and Robert DeNiro would be great to kick this off.
So, what's the best film (or your favorite, whatever your critiera for "best" is) of Marty and Bob's 10 films together?

Can't believe among their two late career films people would pick The Irishman over Killers of The Flower Moon despite the questionable deaging effects and that awful kick scene.

It's Goodfellas. A perfect movie, one of only two Scorsese has made.

Just sayin'..........

There's not a bad scene in The Godfather and not a bad performance either. The Talks Shire diss is wild. Perfect casting. First time I've ever heard anyone say she was bad in the movie. Are you sure you aren't thinking of Godfather Part Three and Sofia Coppola? Lotta misjudged scenes and bad acting to go around in that one.

Very much recentism in Goodfellas winning.......to me it has several bad scenes - in its narration and breaking the 4th wall - and not a lot to actually say .............even though it's a blast to watch (~ 8.5 / 10).......Mean Streets will always be my favorite.............his best - and most relevant - then and now..is Taxi Driver - which hurts WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY more in just its one scene of De Niro kicking over the TV than anything in Goodfellas.....or in The Departed for that matter too........
Pfffft

Could you stop doing this on my threads. I'm responding to comments you made about films on a thread I made about movies and acting. That is also known as normal behavior. And staying on-topic.
Stick to the subect, and stop trying to derail my threads with your personal animus and issues.
Thanks

To be honest, I'm more shocked that The Irishman is getting more votes than Raging Bull and Mean Streets, never mind Killers Of The Flower Moon.

Just sayin'.......... The windshield getting kicked out at the end is also awful both because it obviously isn't real glass and the sound effect for it is super fake. Things like that don't matter when the movie is as good as it is. Anyway, Taxi Driver for me with King of Comedy as RU.

There are scenes in a lot of great movies you can nitpick if you look deeply enough, but the key is not to have too many people notice them or care. This is like the first time I've even heard anyone point out any "issues" with that scene in The Godfather ( and I've seen it a lot of times, without ever noticing or percieving anything off). It wasn't glaring enough for people to give a shit. Which means if there were any issues in sound design or whatever else, they got away with it. The scene in The Irishman was so glaring and in your face awful ( probably due to the perspective it was shot it, which allowed for no camouflage), that a lot of people noticed it and it became a talking point. It's like Marion Cotlliard's "death scene" in The Dark Knight Rises. It was only a couple seconds, but it was so glaringly awful that many people noticed it, and it's always a talking point for that film. The Irishman scene is too glaring to fall under the radar, fairly or unfairly. It's a legitimate criticism, mainly because they didn't get away with it.

There's also the "through the glass" scene ...........the very minor, very little background shot @21 seconds of those 2 extras with long hair and a 1970s beard that Coppola had to leave in at Paramount's insistence and it drove him crazy...................I just love that this stupid shot which NOBODY would ever notice upset him so much.............. and the only reason I think this is known at all to Godfather fans is probably because he talked about it a lot just to sort of say "Oh yeah, that's Paramount's fault!"
