She's already worked with Woody Allen, Inarritu, Chazelle, the formerly relevant Cameron Crowe, and Lanthimos. Who's next? Aster doesn't really count yet.

Who would she even play in Narnia though?? Didn't know this is (or could be) a thing?... I'd like to see her white witch, which I imagine would be an unsympathetic Cruella, a.k.a what that bloody movie should've been.

She's doing at least 2 Narnia movies for Netflix next.

Isn't she doing the Untitled Fred Astaire Biopic with Tom Holland after her Yorgos films? I'm so looking forward to that.

You making this comparison put the horrifying thought into my head that Gerwig is going to try to turn the White Witch into a girlboss with a sympathetic backstory so it's really all some random man's fault. Instead of the awesome stone cold bitch she's supposed to be. Hoping she casts Sheeshaw, a villain would be good for her.

Not that I expect them to work together but why is Scorsese missing? Or PTA for that matter?
If Bennett Miller ever did a movie again he'd be my bet.

Jane Campion would be great. I'm also thinking Kathryn Bigelow. I want to see her do something dark and depressing.

I think I have to delete my account ...it's been a great 79 years talking to you guys - thanks for turning me on to good bands (um) - but you have gone goofy on skunk weed: First Austin Batker overrating and now THE most adroit comic actress of her generation doesn't get mentioned as one day teaming up with PTA? West Coast people (sorta)? Both funny and original thinkers? PTA probably loves The Curse .....I'm kind of surprised she isn't shooting his new movie..........the only thing missing in her last 10 year ascendancy is that, no? You guys like to laugh and stuff right?

She'll be working on an endless loop with Yorgos Lanthimos. No other prestige directors Hard to say. She doesn't actually appear interested in working with any major auteurs outside of Lanthimos these days, so I wouldn't have a clue what her decision making process for directors are lately, outside of him. Or what directors are currently seeking her out. Greta Gerwig makes sense. Might even reunite her with Ryan Gosling.

And yes, PTA is a major omission from the poll. And while his casting of actresses can be very unconventional ( Alana Haim and Regina Hall as the biggest female roles in his last two movies was not on anyone's Bingo card) as he doesn't neccesarily go out of his way to cast A-list actresses, Stone would definitely fit into whatever PTA does.

? PTA is booked and busy trying to placate DiCaprio. It wasn't a dig at anybody, but he's clearly not directing another movie until 2026 at the earliest, and Emma Stone is working sooner than that a few times.

He worked with Amy Adams and Reese Witherspoon too. I think he just looks at who is best for the part and isn't specifically movie star averse. Stone would have been an interesting choice for Licorice Pizza.

It's just been such a long time since he's done so, that he's not the first director that comes to mind when it's time to cast big name actresses (like say Todd Haynes). Even with Phantom Thread, he went with a mostly unknown European actress for the female lead ( Vicky Kreips) and a British character actress for the main support ( Lesley Manville). He always feels more likely to go after an A-list actor than actress, in the more recent portion of his career. I could see Stone in Licorice Pizza as well, but PTA must have had his reasons to avoid casting a movie star in that role.

To my understanding he wrote LP specifically for her which is why the character was even named after her. He's friends with her mom so he's known her forever.

Oh honeys, I can believe she has two of everything: Two Academy Awards; Two Baftas; Two Golden Globes; Two eyes, arms and legs...
Why isn't Guillermo Del Toro on that list?

Yeah but Stone also already has a couple of projects lined up she’s filming next so not getting the logic here?

Might even reunite her with Ryan Gosling. She was going to star in The Menu with Alexander Payne directing but when he left the project she also dropped out (and made the right call looking at Mylod's finished film). She was also supposed to star in Gerwig's Little Women but had to drop out.
I doubt she's interested in committing to a Narnia franchise so Gerwig should be out of the question for the time being.
Actually I think she's more likely to work with lesser known indie auteurs trying to help them getting their big break especially now that she has nothing left to prove. She won't be chasing a third Oscar so what's the point in playing it safe by attaching herself to surefire Oscar contenders.

She seems pretty obsessed with Nicole Kidman in Birth, so I think she'd be up for working with Jonathan Glazer if he did more than one film a decade.
