Never much cared for him besides House of Cards. And despite being a very good impressionist, he always seemed to play roles the same way both technically and in terms of oozing smarm.

He's good at what he does, like most actors

A talented actor with very limited range whom I'm not sure had a great film performance since the turn of the millennium (maybe Horrible Bosses?). I didn't watch House of Cards so I can't speak to if that was a return to form, but I wasn't particularly impressed with any clips tbh.
As far as a person, he is obviously a piece of shit but I knew about his (alleged) misconduct before the allegations formally came out so it wasn't like some shock or sudden shift for me.

* What makes you think MAR knows anything about him - given this boards Leftist, bullshit virtue signalling and dumbfnck assessments of actors and that once called Legend pacinoyes "a racist" for saying race can influence Oscar nods? GTFO MAR - you're lucky I don't give you all a slap you fncking half a sissies * He's great at what he does.........but he is not great at a lot outsidde of what he does.......he plays a narrow strata but he plays it expertly........Like his whole Weaker 80s Generation of US actors: Hanks/ Washington/ Cage / Penn - even Dafoe to some degree - he is significantly limited - across metrics - but he covered it up well or did until he gave people another reason to hate him........ * His actual closest comparison is Denzel Washington - I'm not kidding - neither are Top Tier GOATs, but both act like they're Top Tier GOATs (and 2 morons on this board believe it, hi chuck, fuck you ), Washington is a much better - and broader actor - than Spacey........... and yet: Spacey is the one in Best Picture winners, is in 3 classics (more?) - when Wahington isn't so much....... Spacey is funny as shit in some comedic work not Washington............ Spacey had as much (more?) theater under his belt......he RAN a theater ffs..........has Shakespeare a lot......it was Spacey who re-staged / played Hickey in The Iceman Cometh on Broadway first (and arguably did it better, I saw both - both quite good) .........it was Spacey who pulled off the Best Actor Oscar + Tony thing to match Pacino a full 10+ years before Washington did it and it is Spacey who came within inches of winning the Triple Crown (many Emmy nods, no wins) which would match Pacino too and still hasn't been matched by an American in 20 years....... His metrics set him up to be something bigger - like Washington is, across all 3 mediums - than he may initially appear to be....... and now his career can no longer deliver on.....

ask a question about the silent era and pac will find a way to bring it back to Denzel
never cared much for Spacey. Extremely limited range, and his arrogant affect in movies like Glengarry and and LA Confidential make those performances even harder to stomach these days. American Beauty was hot garbage, Usual Suspects gimmicky, and he has waaaay too little screentime in Seven for his perf to be as overpraised as it is. Very few movies have been elevated by his presence and his absence from the mainstream film industry has been a net positive.

What Tommen said. I like his Jack Vincennes but he's an extremely boring actor most of the time.

Talented actor but a creep in real life. Him being a crummy person won't stop me from rewatching L.A. Confidential or any of his other good films though.

Always surprised that he was regarded on such high level as if he's some remarkable thespian, especially with awards, acclaim and the general respect from the audiences given how limited his range actually is. He was basically never surprising me in any of his performances, though obviously his shtick worked well in some movies, especially more comedic ones.

Glengarry Glen Ross, Swimming with Sharks (this one worth only for him), Se7en, The Usual Suspects, L.A Confidential and American Beautyis a superb string of films to be part of imo... I prefer this to each chapter of Washington's, Penn's and Hanks careers (consistency-wise). There are more "colors" to their perfs than his, but "range" just wasn't something I cared about when I was growing up on these films. Him showing up equalled excitement... bailed out of HoC after 2 seasons though; where he was his usual-good... just too dark, who needs that.

Still really like a lot of his work (although a lot he just leans into his smarminess kinda on cruise control). Obviously he’s a POS but I still enjoy his old and classic performances. I also have zero interest in ever seeing him in a new project.
