This. Is. Massive.
Iñárritu is one of the best directors working today as far as getting career-peak performances from his actors. This is a match made in heaven.

I guess Inarritu didn't want to wait for LDC.
Seriously though, if Cruise does this and the Tarantino film around the same time, he may repeat 1999 all over again.

I guess Inarritu didn't want to wait for LDC. Why would he? Iñárritu rarely works with the same actor more than once in major roles (Watts, Barraza and Garcia Bernal are the only ones). It's one of his hallmarks. He already got DiCaprio to an Oscar win when Scorsese couldn't even do that. Cruise is the next big challenge for him and frankly, that's an even bigger coup specifically because Cruise rarely goes for awards-y fare nowadays.

Leo is the second coming of Christ, and his KOTFM snub is one of the biggest tragedies in film history.

Lool, i'm pretty sure he got it primarily because of all his work with Scorsese and others. Anyway, i'm happy for Cruise, and if this project goes on and works successfully, it would be the second time Inarritu luckily gains advantage of the overdue narratives of his lead actor.

A man who loves to torture actors and a man who loves to be tortured. Perfect match.
Cruisebros, we won.

Mans was on the circuit for Top Gun: Maverick and got the itch again. Man saw Brendan Fraser win the Oscar that year and said "Enough of that shit."

Great move for both of them. Been wanting Cruise to get back to working with auteurs since ever and to get Cruise's interest it must be a more focused project like Birdman or Revenant instead of whatever Bardo was so it probably means Iñárritu's back on track as well. Any plot details?

A comedy. They've been tight lipped on it. But it wasn't Bardo, and it wasn't this.

I'm still aching for the day Cruise gets another Sorkin script. This is a hill I'm willing to die on.
