I find her weirdly terrible sometimes, with this hammy twitchiness.

Underrated legend.
18 Time Emmy Nominee (4 time winner), Oscar nominee, 3 time Golden Globe nominee (1 win) , BAFTA nominee, 7 time SAG nominee (3 Time winner).
Her awards record is crazy. Especially the Emmys. That's some Meryl Streep at the Oscars kind of record. And the impressive thing with her is that the majority of her Emmy nominations came for different roles. It's much easier to be recognised by the Emmys again and again for the same role. I mean, numbers wise Julia Louis-Dreyfus has an even much bigger number of Emmy wins and nominations, but they are almost all repeat nominations/wins for the same 3 shows ( Seinfeld, Veep and The New Adventures Of Old Christine), which I don't find anywhere as impressive as Woodard barely repeating at all.

I find her weirdly terrible sometimes, with this hammy twitchiness. You sure you not confusing her with Danielle Deadwyler in Till? Anyway, I really admire Woodard in movies I've seen with her. Brilliant in Passion Fish.

Love her '90s stretch. She's in some essential TV Movies of the 80s - The Killing Floor, Go Tell It On the Mountain. They're small parts. She's better and great-ish in her Oscar nom Cross Creek, and Miss Evers Boys, and Crooklyn, and Down in the Delta. But she's brilliant in my two favs: Passion Fish and The Piano Lesson. They're mustsees for her.

She's kind of terrifying in that. Thought her and Mahershala Ali made a complimentary pair of villains in the first season.

Fantastic actress, often underrated. Especial shout-out to "Down in the Delta".

She excels at communicating a depth of soul that not many are capable of, can often broaden the psychological horizon of a character with just a scene or two by doing so, and make whatever she is appearing in more worthwhile on account of it. She may have bad moments now and then, sure, but who doesn't? You're not opposed to hammy twitchiness coming from the right performer!
