This Sunday, February 25th, is the 35th Producers Guild Awards. The PGA awards has accurately predicted the Best Picture winner 24 out of 34 times. Since 2009, under the preferential ballot system, the PGA winner and the Best Picture winner have matched 11 out of 14 times. The only misses were The Big Short, La La Land, and 1917. On the animated feature side, they have gone 14 out of 18. Their only misses were Cars, The Adventures of Tintin (Not nominated for Best Animated Feature), Wreck-it Ralph, and The Lego Movie (not nominated for Animated Feature).
Only nine times has the PGA and DGA winner come from a different film. The most recent exceptions were CODA and The Power of the Dog in 2022, Green Book and Roma in 2019, and The Big Short and The Revenant in 2016.
Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures
American Fiction Anatomy of a Fall Barbie The Holdovers Killers of the Flower Moon Maestro Oppenheimer Past Lives Poor Things The Zone of Interest
The favorite is pretty obvious: Oppenheimer. Not only did it win the DGA, but it took home the Globe (Drama), Critics Choice, and BAFTA for Best Motion Picture. Potential spoilers could be Poor Things (won the Globe for Comedy/Musical), American Fiction (The new Adapted Screenplay favorite), or Barbie (Box-office champion).
Outstanding Producer of Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures
The Boy and the Heron Elemental Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse The Super Mario Bros. Movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem
The Globe and BAFTA choose The Boy and the Heron. Critics Choice selected Spider-Man.
Who do you think triumphs? And do you think the winner of these awards, will take the Oscar for Best Picture and Best Animated Feature?

That's where I am going. The Annie awards went hard for Spider-Man.

While Oppenheimer is obviously winning this I actually think American Fiction and The Holdovers are more likely that Barbie. They seem more fond of smaller films lately.

Yeah Oppenheimer and Spider-Verse. I don't see Heron winning PGA, though it has a shot at the Oscars since it did win the BAFTA.
