You rolled your eyes when Cooper said he worked 6 YEARS for his maestro to get it right... you threw up in your mouth a little whenever Butler shared what happened to his voice in the name of the King...
But what is the hardest you saw a nominee campaign for an award at the expanse of (some sort of) dignity? regardless of their category (so not just actors) and eventual outcome.

Of course, Frances Fisher's (admittedly badass but nonetheless cringy af) campaign for To Leslie.
Jamie Lee Curtis was cute at first but the campaign season was about one week too long for my enthusiasm for her to last.

The second attempt to do the Frances Fisher thingy with Origin. I mean, come on now, it was ridiculous but kind of amazing the first time round but trying to replicate something so singular simply reeked of desperation. Kinda glad it failed.

Frances Fisher only gained notoriety from it because she broke the rules, lol. |

The obvious difference with Riseborough was that some huge A-list talent were really throwing their names behind her - Winslet, Paltrow, Amy Adams... Frances Fisher only gained notoriety from it because she broke the rules, lol. That campaign would have been better off if it had failed in getting the nod. The backlash ensued because 2 women of color, got snubbed. Riseborough was pretty much ignored at the Oscars. The media wasn't chasing her down. And it's not Hollywood A-list directors, producers have cast her for big budget projects. |

The backlash ensued because 2 women of color, got snubbed. Riseborough was pretty much ignored at the Oscars. The media wasn't chasing her down. And it's not Hollywood A-list directors, producers have cast her for big budget projects. It really does suck how much that backlash tainted what should've been a fantastic career boost for Riseborough, all because of perceived optics (explain to me how one actress can knock out two?). Aside from Fisher actively counting votes to game the system, nothing she or anyone else did was out of bounds, and frankly I still think it was an amazing feat that such a low-budget grassroots campaign managed to stand up against multimillion-dollar machines and actually succeed. That's what should be happening, but because it didn't follow the payola strategy set in stone for decades and because Davis and Deadwyler missed, it's roundly criticized. Riseborough was more than deserving of the nomination, and the resulting controversy sapped any sort of joy she could take in what should've been the watershed moment of her career up to this point. |

Disneys 2019 Campaign run for all there billion dollar movies was certainly the most confident ive seen them. Campaigns for Lion King, Rise of Skywalker, Avengers: Endgame, Toy Story 4 all asking for BP Consideration And I swear to god, I saw a campaign image for Lion King shooting their shot for every cast member for lead and supporting, but I couldnt find a decent enough source for it, aside from this site I also found this more credible looking site showing off all the campaign shtuffsLet me know if any of this is wrong by any stretch, cuz even while looking this up it was hard to believe |

You say that like it's some minor detail That alone was enough to render the whole campaign obscene. Literally telling voters Viola Davis was a "lock" and safe, but here's exactly how many votes we need to get Riseborough nominated as well, was a level of dirty tricks campaigning I don't even think Harvey Weinstein in his prime would stoop to. They needed to change the rules after something like that (which thankfully they did). Davis would probably want to greet Fisher and all those behind that campaign with a knuckle sandwich. It was fucking awful what they did to her. |

I dunno, Chill Wills putting out an ad calling Academy voters his "cousins" and signing it as his "Alamo Cousins" praying for him to win the Oscar set the bar pretty low. At least Avery had the guts to sign her name on her cringefest (and it is incredibly cringe ). Wills was trying to implicate everyone who worked on The Alamo in his shenanigans. That might give him the edge over Avery for me. Also, saying the cast of The Alamo are praying harder for him to win an Oscar than real Texans prayed for their lives at The Alamo is actually insane  Groucho Marx replying to Wills that he was delighted to be his cousin, but was voting for Sal Mineo was such an incredible burn |
