Next Saturday are the SAG awards. They will be broadcasting live on Netflix. I am not going to do Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress. Spoiler alert: Iron Man and Mama Luna will win. The real contest will be with Lead Actor and Lead Actress.

Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role
Annette Bening – Nyad
Lily Gladstone – Killers of the Flower Moon
Carey Mulligan – Maestro
Margot Robbie – Barbie
Emma Stone – Poor Things

Paul Giamatti won NBR, Globe (Comedy/Musical), and Critics Choice. Cillian Murphy captured the Globe (Drama) and BAFTA. No other Best Actor nominee took home anything major. Bradley Cooper and Jeffrey Wright had a couple of minor critic circle wins.
The SAG Best Actor winner has gone on to win an acting Oscar 24/29 times or 83% accuracy. That's an impressive winning percentage and the second most accurate Guild, behind the DGA winner. Ever since Johnny Depp beat out Bill Murray and Sean Penn at the 2004 SAG awards, we have only seen two misses -- Denzel Washington over Casey Affleck and Chadwick Boseman over Anthony Hopkins.
For the best actress side, we have Emma Stone with LA Film Critic, Globe (Comedy/Musical), Critics Choice, London Film Critics, and BAFTA acting wins. Lily Gladstone took home Best Actress wins at NBR, NY Film Critics, and the Globe (Drama). No other nominee won anything major.
The SAG Best Actress winner has won an acting Oscar 21 out of 29 times. Keep in mind in 2009, Kate Winslet won the SAG for Best Supporting Actress and Meryl Streep won SAG Best Actress. SAG placed Winslet as supporting, but the Academy and BAFTAs marked her as lead. So it's really 22/29. In the last ten years, only Viola Davis and Glenn Close won SAG Best Actress without winning the Oscar.
What is everybody's impression on the lead categories? Are we going to see the BAFTA winners or Critics Choice winners? Or are we going to see JangoB's magical Annette Bening powers come to life?
