Poor filmography, not partiularly funny BAFTA non-recipient ......and 9 time Oscar nominated thespian to team with Gandhi?
showbiz411.com/2024/02/13/exclusive-tom-cruise-turned-down-legends-of-the-fall-because-of-scientology-now-director-ed-zwick-making-film-with-denzel-sir-ben-kingsley“Glory” director Ed Zwick is busy these days. He’s got a new memoir out, plus I’m told he’s signed up to direct a real life “Game of Thrones.” Sources say “Death of Kings” will likely have Denzel Washington and Sir Ben Kingsley head up a big all star cast in a movie based on Bernard Cornwell’s best selling historical fiction. The book was already part of a miniseries based on Cornwell’s six book series. But nwow “Death of Kings” will get a whole film just to itself. What’s it about? Wikipedia says “It continues the story of Saxon warlord Uhtred of Bebbanburg who resists a new Danish invasion of Wessex and Mercia.” Whatever that means. So far, no dragons have been mentioned. Zwick’s book, “Hits, Flops, and Other Things” is already a hit, telling stories about the director’s “fortysomething” years making tough films like “Courage Under Fire,” “Blood Diamond,” and “Traffic,” and drowsily sentimental TV shows like “thirtysomething,” “Family,” “Once and Again,” and “My So Called Life.”

I've never read any Cornwell but this sounds very intriguing.

The material sounds Last Kingdom-ish. I'm always here for Zwick though.

Sounds pretty awesome. Shame about the lame, unneccessry commentary from the bitter, jealous thread starter, already trying to shit on another Denzel project thread. Always here for Zwick. Really one of the best classical Hollywood craftsmen directors around. And Washington going head to head with Kingsley is tasty.

This is your GOAT's movie thread. You of all people should most want to respect the space for people to be comfortable here. I got respect for Denzel. I'm out here trying to keep it peaceful and serene, for people to enjoy. It's all peace and love with me on these Pacino project threads baby. I'd assume that's what you want, yes."

I did not start any Pacino project thread dissing the man or his career. You started this off saying " Poor filmography, not particularly funny BAFTA non-recipient".Yoh weren't just reporting news about a new movie project like I was. You wanted to piss off Denzel fans by directly insulting him and start a war and make the thread a shithole. As you usually do. Big difference buddy. Anyway, anyone with a working brain can see through you. Hard for you to criticise any director Washington works with credibly these days

Is my man really acting like he made all those Pacino threads out of the goodness of his heart and genuine interest, and not just to fuck with his favourite toy and shit on the current state of Pacino's career?! Fuck off, everyone can see through your transparent bullshit as usual. This will be a good test to see whether he actually did block me, or if he just says that stuff to try and look all high and mighty, when he clearly loves getting into arguments considering he never blocks pacinoyes.

Zwick has weakened as a director with the arrival of the 2010s but if this project comes to fruition and if Zwick can find the mojo he once had, this could be really good. 'Cause when he was on, he was on. Films like Glory, Blood Diamond and in particular The Last Samurai showed that he could be a damn fine craftsman when he was inspired enough.

Anywho, Washington's career feels like it may be entering unprecedented territory in Hollywood terms. His recent project announcements have been impressive.
It's hard to think of another star entering their 70th year, who has seemed so completely A-list as a movie star, leading man and in terms of opportunities available to him. You had Clint Eastwood, but so much of his continued success was linked to him becoming an all-time director. Denzel has had directing success, but it's not keeping his acting career and opportunities alive the in quite the same way it did for Clint.
Sean Connery was still an A-list leading man past 70, but pretty much retired at 73 with The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
It's pretty much John Wayne.

God, you people can't live without my attention. You are literally logging off to read my posts to reply to me even though you're blocked and shouldn't be able to see my shit when logged in. How embarrassing . I don't block Pacinoyes, because he occasionally has something interesting to say .Neither of you two do. It's really that clinical. The article says it’s Morgan Freeman and Ben Kingsley. No mention of Denzel.

after watching five seasons of Last Kingdom, how am I just now discovering Uhtred of Bebbanburg was a real person? It'll be interesting seeing Denzel in that context post- Macbeth (presumably with less confusing dialogue hah) and it's always nice seeing Kingsley. The genre has been really rough lately with straight-to-streaming flops like The King and Outlaw King or the Mary Queen of Scots remake, and I doubt Zwick's the guy to revive it with his so-so track record, but I'll take what I can get.

The article says it’s Morgan Freeman and Ben Kingsley. No mention of Denzel. All this drama on this thread, and it isn't even a Denzel project! Oh, the irony. Friedman must have fucked up or put in Denzel's name to get some extra clicks, because the article originally mentioned him. Now it's changed to Freeman. How do you mix that up in reporting something Anyway, good for Morgan if this is indeed true. It's been awhile since he's been in a project where I'm really interested in seeing him, but Ed Zwick in this type of material is something I'd pay close attention to, regardless of who is starring

He usually has a pretty solid reputation for reporting on projects so it must’ve been a slip up. I was about to say how many projects did Denzel sign up for over the strikes? lol..

Edit : Subject line changed to reflect Freeman nowWashington is a much better actor than Freeman ...........( neither is close to being the GOAT however) .......on the other hand Freeman has been in FOUR films with 7 Oscars nominations and a BP nod as opposed to Washinton's 0 - and TWO BP winners - as opposed to Washington's 0 - because Denzel Washington doesn't have a good filmographyWhat? Not Funny? Maybe not........true though ^ Thank you for your support
