Lets talk about the BAFTA awards.
Best Lead Actor
Bradley Cooper - Maestro Colman Domingo - Rustin Paul Giamatti - The Holdovers Barry Keoghan - Saltburn Cillian Murphy - Oppenheimer Teo Yoo - Past Lives
Since 2000, the BAFTA and Oscar Best Actor winners lined up 15 out of the last 23 years. Austin Butler is the first actor since Chiwetel Ejiofor in 2014 to win the BAFTA, but lose the Oscar. The majority of BAFTA Best Actor winners took home the Golden Globe.
Feels like a showdown between Giamatti (Golden Globe Comedy/Musical & Critics Choice winner) and Murphy (Golden Globe Drama winner). I would be shocked to see any other actor winning this one. Cooper or Domingo winning here would significantly boost their Oscar and SAG chances.
Best Lead Actress Fantasia Barrino - The Color Purple Sandra Huller - Anatomy of a Fall Carey Mulligan - Maestro Vivian Oparah - Rye Lane Margot Robbie - Barbie Emma Stone - Poor Things
Just like with the Best Actor category, the BAFTA and Oscar line-up pretty closely with each other -- 16/23 years. That's the same number of times, the BAFTA winner and the Globe winner were in sync.
Stone feels like the favorite here, because she won the Globe and Critics Choice. But we did see the BAFTAs showing strong support for Anatomy of a Fall and Maestro. Huller and Mulligan feel very much in the mix.

Murphy/Stone for now, but Hüller cannot be underestimated here.

Murphy/Stone for now, but Hüller cannot be underestimated here. Exactly. Brit voters really liked Anatomy of a Fall. They nominated it in every major category - acting, directing, writing, editing. I am very tempted to go with Hüller. I wonder what JangoB magical powers say here.

Murphy and Stone, though it wouldn't surprise me if Giamatti or Hüller wins either. They clearly love The Holdovers and Anatomy of a Fall.

Murphy/Stone for now, but Hüller cannot be underestimated here. I wonder what JangoB magical powers say here. I consider them dead after Hisaishi missed at the Oscars but since you asked: Brad Lee Cooper and Sandra Bueller.
