Well, like I said in futuretrunks thread about actresses of a certain age group not getting enough movie roles with notable auteurs, Kidman is pretty much in the rare position to do whatever she wants and can hire auteurs to direct projects starring her for her production company (which this project is co- produced by). And she's done it again. Kurzel is arguably the most talented/significant young Australian auteur, having been nominated twice at Cannes for the Palme d'Or ( for the Fassbender Macbeth in 2015 and for Nitram in 2021), so this is a big get for Kidman. It's based on a 2011 novel by Gordon Reece. Shaun Grant will be scripting. " In Mice, Shelley and her mother are pushed to their limits, confronting their moral convictions and the line between right and wrong in the face of bullying, violence and fear"

I was about to ask who Essie was then, then I realised it was Kurzel's wife, who also acts in some of his movies. Decent chance she'll be in it.

Kidman's clout and power at this stage of her career and age is kind of remarkable. She doesn't have to sit round waiting for auteurs to make her an offer. She can put projects on the table and they come work for her.
I wonder where she finds the time, but I think she has the most impressive career of any actress in her age group. Like I said, within reason, it feels like she can get almost any project she feels like made. All those hit shows she's produced (even the ones that didn't hit big with critics) has given her some serious juice.
